Chiefs are also playing their starters, which is pretty crazy. They don’t normally play starters the last preseason game.
They are the reigning, defending preseason champs! This is Bears Super Bowl, they are bringing a 5 game preseason winning streak into Arrowhead.
I think the thought process is treating that 3rd preseason game like in previous years when there were 4.
Most teams have been playing starters week 2 as the dress rehearsal game. You don’t want to risk guys getting hurt 2 weeks before the games count for real.
In previous years wasn’t it a week after the 4th preseason game when regular season started? You’re right in that there’s an injury risk(I probably wouldn’t do it myself), but it’s no different than how it was in previous years except you’re not playing a 4th preseason game.
I always remember a 2 week break. They would start the preseason earlier for the 4 games. 3rd game was dress rehearsal, then the 4th game nobody played anybody. It was a full scrub on scrub fest, which no one watched. After the last preseason game, cutdowns took place. That’s happening this Tuesday. Then a one week break, and off we go.

Beautiful handoff technique from Caleb. OL still can’t sit still. Caleb patented sprint out and chuck it. Pass well short of the sticks. They literally checked all the boxes for a Bears drive. That Bears offense is sooo back.

Lol I can’t remember now. I mean it wasn’t long ago. Regardless I probably wouldn’t play my starters unless they were young guys that need the reps.
I agree. I am surprised the Bears did after how they were getting loved on for beating the Bills. The Chiefs had a really bad game against the Seahawks but still to even see the starters for 2 series is pretty surprising.
Chiefs left side of the line does look better. Excellent cut block by Trey Smith on that Mahomes scramble. The right side is getting caved in consistently though.
Are the Lions the only team with a clear no. 1 QB that hasn’t had their QB take a snap during pre-season?

Has Prescott played any? I don’t know if he started tonight. I don’t think Josh Allen or Michael Penis has played. I am fairly certain Stafford hasn’t played. 
Edit: I dont think Lamar has played. Aaron Rodgers hasn’t played. I am trying to go through teams as I think of them.

I think DC is all about the joint practices over preseason. And after seeing Harmon carted off for the Steelers last night I’m all for not playing any starters.
I can kinda understand Ben playing starters some. They are installing new systems so they can use the repetition. Teams not implementing new systems (Chiefs for instance) seems odd and risky.
