As a big time old school football fan who still values RB’s as a top position worthy of top 10 picks I’m happy for this guy. I wanted the Lions to pick him. And I was that guy who hated the Gibbs pick mainly because DMo just got signed and because I’ve never been a big fan of speed backs. I’m so happy Gibbs chopped me in the throat. Now it’s his turn…

That’s probably going to last about 24 hours.

I also got throat punched by Gibbs. I was a fan of Swift in a 1-2 backfield so I thought it was a wasted pick at the time.

IMO ATL gets the peanuts win as Gibbs will sign for slightly more and I think Bijan is the slightly better player. Top 2 backs in the league and will get paid like it.

In 5-6 years we are gonna look back at how lucky we were to witness such an elite offense for so long.

Going to push back a bit on that.

Gibbs has been the better runner. Never had below 5.0 ypc and has a career 5.3 ypc vs. Bijan’s 4.9 ypc. Gibbs also has 39 rushing TDs vs Bijan’s 25 rushing TDs (despite Bijan having 130 more carries–Tyler Allgeier was no D Mo in the sucking up opportunities dept).

Bijan has been the better receiving RB with 8.8 ypr vs. 8.0 ypr for Gibbs.

Bijan’s lost more fumbles–5 to 2 for Gibbs.

Gibbs plays on the best offense in the league and Bijan is basically the Falcons offense. Sure Drake London is a star but their QB play rivals the worst in the league during his time there. All of that matters…a lot.

Switch the two backs and Bijan goes :up_arrow: and Gibbs :down_arrow: I don’t really see that as being arguable but we all have bias.

Also, Allgeier vultured plenty of touchdowns for Bijan. Often coming in for just that TD carry. And I’m also not of the ā€œMonty is awesome camp.ā€ I’ll take Allgeier over him without hesitation :man_shrugging:t2:

Yeah, I was still under the impression Swift could be one of the best and be that 1,000 + 1,000 guy like he said he would be. But you breath on him and he goes down and say he’s injured.

Like I said, I am not the biggest fan of speed backs. And with just signing DMo i thought that was too high. Mind you Achane was like a 4th round pick. I was okay with Bijan and DMo because Bijan was rated as a generational talent and I didn’t see anyone other than Will Anderson worth a top 10 pick.

I was actually more upset Gibbs first season. As electric as he was, DMo ran for 1,000 yards and we went to the NFCCG so I was like they could have picked someone else.

But talk about generational Gibbs is special. Boy was I wrong. What shocked me about Gibbs is he runs with power. I do think at the moment Bijan, CMAC, and J Taylor are better, but I think Gibbs can be and I think he will be if he can handle it full time. You know they’re going to go all out with him.

Gibbs new deal in…..

I think people are going to be surprised how much Pacheco (or someone else) plays. I don’t see an increased workload from last season…not much of one anyway :man_shrugging:t2:

He’s not needed to be a workhorse for this offense to be elite. And why risk injury or overworking him before it really counts?

Just food for thought.

When it comes to the rushing numbers and people say gibbs is on the better teams.

2024

Lions got a big win in getting the better player for less draft capital. :flexed_biceps::smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I know people like to blame the OL and they’re not wrong, but he looked like he ran out of gas to me. Thats my only concern, but I think he’ll be fine. I expect him to do more this season. I would not be surprised if he hits 2k yards.

I’m going to guess Pacheco will get hurt and be out for the season at some point. Probably same with Wonnum. I’m joking but i’m also serious.

Some comparison of stats.

Gibbs vs Bijan

Snaps per game

39.8 vs 48.9

Target+Carry/ Game

18.3 vs 20.9

Yrds / Play

18.6 vs 20.9

Broken tackle %

9.1% vs 8.5%

Success %

49.0% v 51.7%

Last year really hurt Gibbs success rate. It was over 53% going into the year

It’s not just about Oline…other threats mean a lot too. Not to mention the difference between Jared Goff and whatever ATL runs out at QB. there are many factors at play here other than offensive line.
