Bizarre game. This team is having an identity crisis

A fluke deflected pass lands in Branch’s arms.
NO forgets its fundamentals for an entire quarter.
Ragnow gets hurt, and our run game plummet.s
NO’s momentum is stalled by a fluke fumble.
NO’s second momentum ends when Carr gets knocked out.
NO’s fluky pass to Olave that should’ve been picked by Jacobs.

And yet, it was a road win against a team that isn’t awful (NO was 5-6). Right? That counts for something? But after the first quarter, you just got the sense that NO was playing professional football, and the Lions were not.

I’m glad they got a win on the road against a team that could have (and should have) beat them. A few bounces of the ball go differently, and this game could’ve been very ugly for the Lions.

My takeaway, my hope, is that Dan sees that. He sees that we won the turnover battle and still almost lost. He sees that Aaron Glenn’s defense isn’t remotely playoff caliber. And that Ben Johnson, for all of his wonderful calls, has momentary lapses that leave you dumbfounded.

9-3 is great. But somehow doesn’t feel good.

Good teams win crappy games like this. Just have to get used to it, being a target. This is a damn fun ride!

I was baffled by some of these .

A lot of talent on this team. They haven’t played good football in a month. They look like Minnesota last year. I know people will get all snarky and defensive because “9-3”!!! But this time last year they were playing their best football and this year it seems like they are playing their worst. Of course I’m happy about 9-3, but if they don’t win their division and a playoff game this year, I think a lot of us will be very disappointed.

Awesome Well Done GIF by The Voice

I disagree that today was a few bounces away from the game being worse for detroit, i actually think as far as flukey plays they were kind of even…

Deflected pass caught by branch and one caught by olave

Dropped pass by dmont when the lions were driving to extend their lead and reduce the ability for a comeback

Ragnow going out impacting our gameplan, carr going out for them

Idk, i wanted to see us blow their doors off but it is the nfl and the lions are 9-3 with decent advanced metrics on offense.

The defense sucks but has youth on its side and hopefully some players getting healthy. We shall see what happens the remainder of the year.

For as bad as the playcalling was at times, they still put up 33.

The offense should not have to score 30 every game for you to win, and they did again.

The defense is a complete mess. Looking back at some of those pass plays and the secondary was running around like they were on the playground.

That minnesota team won a lot of flukey games, every 1 score game, and had a negative point differential. Lets take a step back here and see how the year progresses, the lions could be frauds but that minnesota team was the biggest fraud i have ever seen statistically and otherwise

They ran the ball down their throat…then abandoned the run.

New Orleans didn’t stop the run…Ben Johnson did.

Is it a fluke if he catches 2 in a year like that?

Last season the Lions had a funky spell.

San Fran lost 3 in a row

The Lions are not a finished product. Need some more play makers in Defense and I may now be sliding into the Goff may not be the guy club.
This was now 3-4 games in a row that he was not been great.

I get it. Teams have scouted the Lions and now are attacking their tendencies. But this offense needs to be better. Should have put this away in the first half.

Ben Johnson has Jim Harbaugh in his ear calling plays…stacked box? Up the gut. 7 defenders back? 7 step drop.

The secondary is getting worse as the season goes on. Does this start to fall on bly as well?

Jamo is criminally underused at this point of the season.

I really think Jamo is way better than anyone thinks.

He looked great today. And I’ve been a little tough on him. I loved the catch with the defender draped on him.

Up by 21, playing against a horrible run defense. No idea why we threw the ball at all. I know you have to “stay aggressive” but man, just load the box and run it down their throats for the next 52 minutes.

I really think they decided to try to work on some things being up 21 - 0, and being that early in the game. That’s really the only explanation an arm-chair chud who doesnt know shit about football like me, can come up with.

I think Ben is trying not to be predictable.
If AG is going to continue playing “Prevent” entire games, I want him gone.
“Prevent”, prevents wins!
