Terrible play calling. Gibbs bottled up all day. Nothing downfield. Defense giving ten yard cushions to Olave all day long. Giving up 17 straight points. Suckage. Pure suckage.
Where in the ■■■■ are our deep safeties? ■■■■■■■ Olave is their only threat and he’s ■■■■■■■ killing us.
It’s only week 1.
Not a fan of running Gibbs 25 times a day. He isn’t Derrick Henry. All our other weapons seem to have been forgotten.
We absolutely miss Ben Johnson. I was hoping some of that sauce came from Dan/others, but it seems he really was the mastermind who made it work. I always thought he would be a good head coach, I just thought it was more of a Detroit Lions offense than it was a Ben Johnson offense, seems I was wrong.
That said, it’s only week one. With my college team Oklahoma State I just went through losing a bad week one and looking terrible (Tulsa), then beating the good team and looking great a week later (Oregon). And that often happens in the NFL, we all know there are a lot of week one overreactions.
It’s week one, good grief.
Grow a pair people, sheesh.
I had the same thought regarding Johnson. Let’s see what happens when our starting center comes back though.
Yes, good point. We’ve basically been down to backup centers ever since he left.
Thank god we kept Shepard. It’s going to be fun watching our secondary play man coverage all game every game. We gave up 400 yards passing to a quarterback making his 10th start with only one real weapon.
Did you say that last year after week 1? How’d that work out?
They were great down the stretch last year though, one of the highest scoring offenses in the league over the last 6 weeks or so? Kellen Moore is a good coach, and there’s a reason they’re a trendy pick to win the NFC South. It was the reason this game made me so nervous, and why I was so surprised we got up 21-0.
The only stat from that game that matters is 1-0.
Sure am happy they hired they guy from the Cardinals
This was always my issue. Its a little like it used to be for us, who wants somebody with that stank on em
Yea, I’m talking about this years team, but hey keep looking at last years team.
Typical SOL fan crap
If Shep keeps this up he won’t make it through the season as DC.
So am I , 1-0
Of course I’m happy the Lions are 1-0, but goodness, if that 2nd half defense shows up Thursday, we’re in deep doo doo.
It just speaks to a larger concern going back to last year. When shepherd absolutely needed a stop opposing offenses went through our defense like a 7 on 7 drill. The exact same pattern happened again today. In the biggest moments Shepard and his defense consistently fail.
Oh I know and I have concerns too, but everyone thinking this was the typical Saints of the past few years was way off. That’s why I hated all the pre-game narratives, they made me nervous af.
The playcalling left something to be desired but Gibbs bottled up? Did you watch the game? He had 156 yards and 2 TDs lol
