I dont want to give gibbs as many touches as he got today and i doubt we do frequently moving forward, but outside of emotions your entire post is well blank…
I’m going to take a stab here Storm on what they’re trying to say. I think the concern is how Gibbs will look with the wear of a long season. Even if he’s healthy enough to play, his legs will be shot and the quickness that makes him so dangerous won’t be there. In other words, how sustainable is running him like today possible without someone reliable to spell him?
Stop giving up big plays. One of the reasons everyone hates our style of defense (I’m not a fan either) is because it’s high-rish, high-reward. We need more reward if the risk is going to keep burning us, and in fairness we did get a little more of that today (which is why they were goose-egged for so long).
Catch the ball.
Do better in high-leverage situations. We managed to get the Saints in plenty of low-quality down and distances but we couldn’t make them pay at a level commensurate with it.
Improve in those areas and things will look much better.
It’s the OL. They are not as good as 2024, not even close.
As far as wear and tear, yes, that is always a concern for any RB. Saylors probably should’ve gotten some more carries. I saw nothing from Vaki as a RB, and don’t know why they even bother. He had 1 catch, that’s about it.
Also, if the Lions are praying that Pachec-slow fixes the RB room, they will be very disappointed.
Need to probably throw a few darts at some mid/late round guys for next year in the backfield. Outside of that i dont think the running game was the issue, offensively it was poorly timed penalties and dropped/bad passes that killed the drives not the running games flow or even necessarily the oline. I feel like the oline was better compared to last season.
I’m not buying that.
Here are their last 7 games, nothing here says offensive juggernaut and Shough didn’t put 400 yards up on anyone, over 300 only on the Titans and Jets, middling defenses last year
He went 5-4 took over mid year and from what i saw had the most comeback wins last year. We can likely balance this somewhere between Shough maybe decent and improving, he isnt great and lions made him look better, or he is trash and lions defense made him look good.
Can we agree that based on his prior performances last year it is more likely option 1 and 2 vs 3?
Yep, you’re right, my bad. They were top 5 over the final 6 weeks and Shough was top 5 in efficiency, but I definitley overstated their success. That’s what I get for trying to do it from memory. BUT, they are quite liked as a darkhorse by the analytics community because of their offense.
