no surprise there. He acted like a deer in the headlights when he was our coach.
Skipper has been doing this for weeks and running routes. They’ve been setting this up for some time now. I pointed this out prior to the Min game. Expecting that Skipper would be catching a pass soon.
What the Lions did was they played a switch-a-roo and made Decker eligible hoping to confuse the cowboys on who was eligible and instead they confused the refs.
The ref made a mistake and announced Skipper as the eligible receiver.
The Lions got too cute and burned themselves. Thats the morale of the story here.
Looks like the Lions should have called a time out
The ref made it clear that he thought 70 had reported
Actually ruins the play — phew!!

Hate to agree with you but that’s probably the correct view.
They couldn’t they had no time outs.
Goff and Decker both tried to make him aware that it was Decker who was eligible.
The play was busted once the Ref called out Skipper as eligible. Thats the problem with putting the game on the line with a trick play like that.
Fair enough
But
I’ve never seen what happened last night
Might as well not run pass routes now either since they can just pass interference us and the refs wont call it
Keep in mind that the broadcast booth can hear the ref over the loudspeaker array from up where they are. You cannot hear it from the field. The Lions have no way to tell who the ref is making eligible other than seeing him make the signal.
I think that HE thinks Skipper did. Skipper had two previous times and so, I think its possible that in his mind he said “70 is the guy they sometimes report as eligible”. Ish like this is why they say eye-witness testimony is unreliable. He “saw” Skipper report even though Skipper never got within 10 feet of him. It was Decker.

How many of you just confused those two numbers? Should we make a poll of this?
Someone please create poll to see how many on this board can recognize those as two different numbers.
Second poll … how many shots of tequila does it take to confuse them?
Aren’t all refs mic’ed up? Should be pretty easy to tell what was said.
I demand full time refs…lol
That’s ultimately what i want to see. I want to see the NFL make it very public as well.
Then, i want to see them reform the eligibility + claiming eligibility process this offseason to ensure this garbage never happens again.
I wouldn’t mind a make up call at the most convenient of times during the playoffs as well lol
I wouldn’t say the Lions got too cute. They all did what they were supposed to. It was the ref who ■■■■■■ up. He literally had one job
Hahahahaha… thats not going to happen.
Rex Ryan lays it out
