Lions were no way in hell going to pay him the money the Eagles did. The Lions signed him to a prove it deal after he couldn’t get any big offers. What he proved is that he couldn’t stay healthy and that his shit talk probably rubbed Dan and Brad the wrong way.
Some guys just ain’t worth it. The issue is that he plays better as a safety than a corner. We have Branch and Kirby.
The national sports aggregators are picking up the Detroit was Hell story because it makes good click bait.
The truth is CJGJ is a good Safety. He was signed by Holmes to play Slot CB and lost his job at Slot to BB in camp.
He got hurt and decided on his own to rehab in Florida away from the team.
In his absence Iffy to the job and ran with it and he really couldn’t get the job back when he was healthy.
AG worked him in, but he was kind of a distraction complaining about not starting and disrupting the flow the defense had without him.
By him leaving the team for 3 months he didn’t have any close relationships and AG, Dan, and Holmes saw they didn’t need to spend big to bring him back.
I find it unlikely that Holmes promised CJGJ he would sign him to a long term contract.
He likely said that they would see how it played out and talk after the season.
CJGJ is a good Safety but I agree with Holmes decision to go with Kerby and BB on rookie deals.
Bills also traded with Chiefs in the last draft so they could move up to get speedster Xavier Worthy.
Worthy caught 6 passes for 85 yds and a TD in beating the Bills in the AFC Championship.
Worthy will likely be haunting the Bills, along with Mahomes, for many years to come.
It must really irritate him to be "one of the most winning safeties in football.”, and still be the second most famous person from a city of less than 20K people. Especially when number one is this guy…
Don’t forget the stupid penalty on the interception return. Instead of getting the ball in 49ers territory we got it all the way back in ours and ended up punting if I’m not mistaken. That guy was more trouble than he was worth.
