Getting juice Scruggs in the Montgomery trade might be the best move Brad made this off season. At least that’s what I’m hoping lol.

Worked for the Little Giants.
Apparently Juice is banged up too but not serious. If Juice was playing well and the Lions oline playing well, might be a tough call when Mays is healthy. At least let’s hope for that scenario.
Def think this means the team is gonna take a look around for a new C, be it in the bargain bin or even trade for one if they think they need to.
Just a rough loss.
This is a MASSIVE loss and is a situation where Brad Holmes needs to step up.
Find a team that knows this season is a loss. Offer up a draft pick for their starting center. See if they bite.
We saw what happened last year with a bad O-line. If this isn’t rectified this team is toast.
What round are you thinking? I thought I saw earlier that Ratlege would start getting reps at center.
Problem with this is they just paid Mays. It’s probably not going to happen other than another type like we already have.
Seth McLaughlin could be as good as any option available. Let’s see how he plays on Thursday night.
Still a depth issue, though. Can’t afford any other injuries at a position where this team has seen a ton over the past year. I’m not comfortable going into the year with bargain basement guys teams cut.
This news is absolutely terrible. We saw what happened to our offense last year with poor Center play. Now we have no center at all. The Lions will probably move Juice Scruggs there at least initially, but this is not good news. Scruggs struggled mightily at Center for the Texans, and at least the early reports sounded like the Lions were trying Scruggs out at guard. That to me says they believed Scruggs wasn’t a Center, and were hoping they might get lucky and find at least some decent guard depth and maybe a guy who could play Center in an emergency in game situation.
Finding OL is extremely tough at this point of the season, and a Center is probably nearly as difficult as a LT. We can be thankful we don’t have the Vikings early, but we do have the Packers week 7. They should have Parsons back, and that could technically be Mays return game. Welcome to that assignment.
Ragnow has had enough time to heal, no? /s
I also think Ben Bartch will be part of the rotation at guard when healthy. I don’t disagree with having a banged up OL this early, but there is decent depth.
Forgot about him, yet, haven’t read much about him to this very early point in camp.
Same. But there were several around here intrigued with us taking a flyer on him.
I’m bummed…just trying to stay optimistic.
Can Borom play Center? ![]()
I do really like our OL depth. We are as well built for these sorts of things as we ever have been IMO.
It’s unfortunate but we can mitigate this.
Of course, just when it looked like the offensive line might become a strength again this happens. I’m just numb to it at this point. Next man up I guess, whoever that might be.
Also hasn’t Miles Frazier been repping all along the line?
If true, that’s not an issue with practicing. That’s just shit luck. Rappaport is saying 8-10 weeks. If that’s true, maybe he’ll be ready after the week 6 bye week.
I thought it was the opposite of that in Houston.
At least this happened before preseason so Dan has a chance to see some guys at center.
