The culture around the game has changed a lot. There are gay players in the NFL, there are coaches like Mike McDaniel, hazing has vanished, sports psychology has been embraced. There are definitely some colleges where itâs still the 1980s, where nothing has changed at all and yeah, those are backwaters. I have no idea where you worked, or for how long, but the impression I got from your first post in response to me was that it was based on those shall we say traditional values. I apologise if I got and acted on the wrong impression.
Caleb Williams still had a ton of red flags the fingernail painting is the least of teamâs concerns. His dad being his agent will have teams rethinking. Guy wanted to brake the CBA for rookies just for his son.
Because they are trying to get what they can. Because his rookie contract will be his only big contract. His own dad knows he is a bust. Otherwise show what you got in 4 years be the 1st QB to make 70 million a year.
You are not wrong and he will probably be the #1 pick. I wonder if he does the measurements today or if he took off yesterday after his media. I think he is going to kick the can down the road on getting measured tell his pro day. Because he is 6â0â tall
One thing to remember is that Joe Burrow doesnât dress himself for games. He said if it was up to him, he would just wear a plain white T and some pants. But being the cool guy that he is, he lets his receivers pick out clothes for him and tell him what to wear. Sometimes they have a little fun with it. And he goes along with it.
THANK YOU! This is one of my biggest peeves about draft season. Generational talent means once in a generation. A generation is 40 years. A generational talent is something youâve never seen in your lifetime. You cannot have a generational talent every single year. Call them top of the class, call them elite, etc. I know itâs todayâs internet jargon and hyperbole, but damn is it irritating.
I dearly hope the Bears take the cheese and pick Williams. I think the dude is a complete fraud. Williams absolutely does not scare me. The best part is, he already has a built in reason to fail. âWell, itâs the Bears, and they ruin quarterbacks.â Watch how fast that narrative plays out. Caleb made sure he came out this year, because in many drafts, he wouldnât be close to the top QB. This yearâs âgenerational talentâ wonât even finish his rookie contract. Caleb is a mental midget, and the NFL will break him.
This is just an asinine take, somebody is easily compromised by clickbait. Itâs so hilariously off base, I wonder how people even make it though a normal day. Caleb is a pretty unique dude, no doubt, heâs a creative, well spoken, marches to his own beat type of a kid and Iâd lay 1 million to 1 his IQ is probably 2 X higher than yours.
Heâs going to be the #1 pick almost no matter what he does, he can set the parameters he sees fit, heâs going to work out and do medicals for the teams he visits. Not a damn thing wrong with that.
Itâs not like heâs pulling an Elway or Manning and telling teams NOT to draft him. Iâd really like to know where people are coming up with this shit. Whatâs their source?
He is trying to go out side the box with his approach to playing in the NFL. No agent, not doing medicals at the combine. Having his Dad basically represent him. His dad as his agent trying to circumvent the CBA. His Dad trying to get equity in the club that drafted him.
His personality if you listen to him speak, is one that is cocky, arrogant, self absorbed, me first attitude with some feminized traits when it comes to his personal style.
For NFL teams and NFL GM these can be what you call red flags or distractions.
I get he can do these things and go past the norms of what every other player can because of the talent on the field. But who else had talent that were head caseâs especially at the QB position? There is a full laundry list of them.
Remember when Ryan Leaf and Peyton Manning came out? If you know the story a week or so before the draft the GM of the colts at the Bill Polian said he had to sleep on who he was going to draft. How did that turn out? How about Manziel? How about Tim Couch? How about Jamarus Russell? How about Jamis Winston? All these QB were supposed to be generational talents.
You can say well hey one ate him self out of the league. One got hooked on pain pills? One is still in the League. And one never studied and was so big in college he thought everyday was a party.
But Caleb is different right? He has non of those problems, and youâre most likely right. But does he have other problems like an over bearing father? Does he have mental health issue no one knows about?
There are red flags for a reason. But thanks for pointing out i have zero IQ!
Yeah his contact is already slated. But having an agent is more than just contracts.
Say in his interviews he doesnât vibe with Chicago but he vibes with New England. Who calls New England and says hey Caleb loves you guys how do we make this work? His Dad?
Or dealing with the media. The media talks to players agents more than they talk to the players they want info on. Are they calling his dad?
He can have advisers that are not NFLPA certified but he will have to do his own 2nd contract if he doesnât hire an agent.
Here is where he was allowed to dress himself for a big interview. When you look âplainâ next to a 60+ year old Joe Montana, you know you are âplain.â
So when I see him show up dressed like THIS on gameday, I smile. Because I know he is out of his comfort zone, I know who dressed him and I think its cool AF that he goes along with it.
