Campbell: Goff needs to 'step up' for 0-6 Lions

And he didn’t have McVey…

Goff did though…

He will bring his A game Sunday. Meanwhile we got this:

We were spoiled. For 12 years even on some mediocre teams we had a top 10 NFL QB (some here didn’t realize that he was a top 10 NFL QB but he was). At least with an elite QB we can mostly always be in games. We don’t have an elite QB anymore and it shows.

Goff isn’t the answer. I just hope we don’t end up with the endless QB carousel that teams like Denver, Washington, and Cleveland have had for the past 20 years.

At least Cincinnati (another bad franchise) has followed up one franchise starter with another in Palmer to Dalton to Burrow.

Wouldn’t matter. He’d still force an incompletion to his covered checkdown.

Ya know I’m just pulling your chain.

If Goff is a dud, keep in mind that he even succeeded in McVay’s offense so yeah…I guess he always just needed the right coaches to succeeed.

Matthew Stafford was the best QB this team has seen since it’s championship years. That cannot be argued.

Matthew Stafford will likely remain the best QB the Lions HAD for many years to come.

A championship-caliber team with championship-caliber leadership is schooling Detroit on how to utilize such a resource.

Many fans are still in the “blame Stafford for the Lions sucking” mode instead of recognizing his talent was squandered as much as many others have been the last 60 years here.

Its amazing what good coaching, good teammates, being in a big market, and having refs who aren’t paid to screw you can do to a player.

Patriots fans are spoiled. Packers fans are spoiled.

I don’t know that I would ever refer to us as spoiled.

I think just for the record since haters seem to use 2013 as a fall back crutch, we should kick the crutch.

2013 CJ was injured most of the yr. Yes he played in most games but was a shell of himself. Knee injury and hand injury, both required surgery. The hand injury forced him to change how he caught the ball, leading to a lot of drops. The adjustment how he caught the ball was due to a finger pointing parallel to his body.

Burleson breaks arm in infamous pizza accident.

You had Durham, Broyles and Dorin Jackson.

Then of course teams had figured out Linehans offense.

Was Stafford great, no. Was there a lot that happened outside him yep. However in typical fashion from the haters it was Stafford, yet Goff a former 1 OA pick making more than Stafford gets all the excuses and Stafford had to win regardless. Goff has been bad for 3 yrs. Leads the league in turnovers since 2019.

The fact Stafford is lighting it up, and on track to obliterate Goffs 2 good yrs, is squarely in the MVP race speaks for itself.

He was worse in 2012 than he was in 2013. He wasn’t really very good in 2014 either.

Not blaming him for everything, just saying, I don’t think 2013 is the best example.
