But its probably why you shouldn’t use pro bowls and Super Bowl appearances as evidence a QB is good or bad. Its never really added up.
While multiple pro bowls and a SB appearance may not be proof a QB is great. It’s certainly compelling evidence that are good and definitely not evidence that they suck
I guess it all depends in what context you are basing a top 5 offense on.
If you switch it to points per game, they drop all the way down to 16.
In 2011 they were top 4 in points per game and 5 in yards per game. That season is probably a better example.
Edit. Oh shit, you meant a specific season with Durham and Calvin, sorry dude. My bad.
By inverse conclusion I can deduce that Jared Goff is now a puke QB then, right? I mean if his stats got him into the pro bowl, then I can conclude that his poor stats now are also a reflection on him?
You miss the definition of “total offense”
Blake bortles was a good quarterback when given good receivers and protection. That’s just not the reality of the nfl most of the time though. The lions offensive line has held up pretty well. Especially given the injuries to its two best players. Sewell has struggled a bit but most of the time he’s done well. Goff has to read the field better and not miss the few plays that are there to be made. You’re not going to win many games scoring less than 20 points in the nfl.
It doesn’t really matter what metric he tries to use, and here’s why…
…in 2013 Calvin only missed 2 games. One was against Green Bay. We only scored 9 points, and that was only due to a garbage TD with 2 minutes left.

The next game Calvin missed was against the Vikings. We only scored 13 points and it was another poor outing for the offense.

Are we going to continue? Or just let this silly idea die?

You can conclude anything you wish. Doesn’t mean you’re right ![]()
If any of these guys want to catch passes they need to line up at running back.
You’re not alone. I think he knew what he was getting. He also knew that this team was NOT going to be competitive for at least 2 years so Goff could play and suck away.
Listen, Goff is a stop gap for 2 years. Plain and simple. He sucks and he’s the tool the Lions are using to position for maximum draft position. Get used to it.
I think Holmes actually likes Goff. And they probably could have flipped him for more picks. If they wanted a stopgap for maximum draft capital we could have found someone to trade Goff for a 2nd or 3rd and started whatshisname
Possibly. I think most already knew what he is. I doubt they could get anything for him if they actually did try to trade him. I also think that if the Rams didn’t send an extra first, the Lions wouldn’t have taken him.
Without the other 1st…Stafford gets traded somewhere else.
I keep seeing it’s the WRs, etc making excuses. Granted new system, wrong routes occasionally, but it’s also Goff, and granted a horrible wr group buuutttt…
In six games, Matthew Stafford has thrown for 250+ yards, 3+ TDs, and had a passer rating of 125+ three times. Jared Goff had three such games…in the last last three seasons combined.
That’s with Kupp, Woods, etc
Sorry, wrong one above, this is the one i meant
The top 3 teams in passing TD: Chiefs Bucs Rams Those teams rank in 2020: 2. TB 3. KC – 26. LAR If this isn’t Matthew Stafford appreciation week, I don’t know what is
People kept saying Stafford isn’t a top 5 QB or even top 10 in some cases. By the end of this year, he’ll be considered top 5. He’s pacing with Brady and Mahomes right now ,stat wise. One or two less TDs on less attempts. Close in yards on less attempts too. Some of these people could never appreciate what we had. I’m glad most do though.
Mahomes 18 tds and 8 ints, Stafford 16 tds and 4 ints. Amazing what a good play caller and scheme along with some talent can do
And Stafford did it twice in the last 3 years combined.
