I saw at least two games where the offense put us ahead and the defense gave up two game losing drives
I always tend to root for the underdog. It bothers me that the Stafford fluffers would excuse any and all poor play or mistakes by Stafford always. Nothing was ever Staffords fault, even when he played poorly. Complete absolution. It was the organization, his RBs, the defense, the coaching, so and so is hurt…It was like a religion
The same Stafford fluffers won’t give Goff a single inch. I mean the guy has been to two pro bowls and a Superbowl by his fifth year. He played great, coming off injury in last years playoff win. And now he is thrust into a situation that is arguably the worst situation a QB has had to deal with in NFL history.
His RT is a converted DE. His LT is a rookie playing badly. His C is a bubble practice squad player. He is in a new system, and none of his receivers should be on an NFL roster. But he’s expected to play great and doesn’t get any of the endless litany of excuses Stafford always got
I’m not the biggest fan of Goff even. But feel compelled to defend him given his situation. I think he can be a winning QB for us. And if not we move on.
But I don’t want to see us bringing in a high draft pick QB before we fix the rest of the team
If you could see the world through my lens, and realized what my feelings and thoughts around the situation are, you would realize how much you are actually talking to yourself, rather than in a conversation with me.
Bro - you are straight up talking to yourself here.
Easy there big fella. I was just joining the conversation and adding my perspective. You didn’t need to take it as an argument to your post or even a direct reply to only you
This is the 2nd time this has happened. Because you responded to my text, I assumed that you were responding to me. The majority of your text seems like It’s addressing what I said, just in a misunderstanding and disconnected way.
Perhaps hit the blue reply button, instead of responding directly to my text, so I don’t think you are responding to me (because technically you are, be it intentionally or unintentionally).
I’m sure you can see where this creates confusion to me, if you are responding to me, but not technically “responding” to me. How can I do better moving forward? (serious question). When people directly respond to my text, I assume that’s what they are doing.
Let me know how I can do better, and I will. Part of this feels like evasion/bypassing, but I am not always right (especially when dealing with text)
Well I was more or less responding to you. As if we were engaged in a casual conversation. But not responding to only you, being that it’s on an open forum. And also not necessarily being combative to your opinion. Like if we are standing in front of a canvass, and you put a green stripe on it, I followup with an orange stripe. It doesn’t mean I think the green stripe is wrong (even if it is half of the color of Green Bay)
There’s a play I can point out to you where Darren Fells was WIDE ASS OPEN down the field and Goff checked it down to a guy in double coverage. If you watch the film, you can clearly tell that Goff is not only a product of his supporting cast right now.
For the last time, can we PLEASE stop pretending that the 5-1 Rams traded away Goff to the 0-6 Lions along with 2 1ST ROUND PICKS because McVay is a crybaby or whatever. People who think that Goff hasn’t regressed and still has potential must be so drunk off of Honolulu blue Kool-aid that they have a literal IV of it that is consistently strapped into their arm. They have a hard time clearing metal detectors at the gates of Ford Field to go to their season tickets because the pole of the IV stand keeps setting off the alarms.
Love that - also - no part of me is feeling combative. More inquisitive.
Possibly be a little more clear. I literally respond to everyone that responds to me on here. Acknowledging, respecting, and giving my ideas on thier thoughts, as they told me how they feel about my words.
Just so you know - in the future, if you respond to my posts, I’ll be responding to yoru text, out of courtesy and respect. If you weren’t talking to me, maybe somehow let me know what is/isn’t directed toward me?
Which is why I said to another poster who kept saying Goff was missing his top three WRs “What difference would it make if he had them?” Absolutely NONE!
That’s a bit blanket. It’s not mutually exclusive to see that both Goff has regressed and still has potential. Keep in mind he is only in his fifth year
McVey IMO knew his offensive scheme was being figured out and wanted to implement a new offense while his Super bowl window is open. It’s reasonable for him to want to find a QB who has more experience than Goff for a SB run
I don’t buy the Goff can’t throw downfield arguments though. In 2018, when the Rams Oline was top ten and he had a deep threat he was the 8th best deep passer in the league and Stafford was in the 20’s.
People should also keep in mind that Staffords fifth year wasn’t very pretty either. He was an erratic turnover machine and was a major reason we collapsed down the stretch to not win a wide open division. That caused The Lions to bring on an entirely new staff to, in large part, fix his mechanics
It worked too. After that (and a brief benching in year 7 for too many interceptions) Stafford became a much better, more accurate well-rounded QB
But now people want to discard Goff, who has proven he can be successful, because he has missed some receivers he didn’t get an offseason to work with, who don’t belong on a roster, in a new system with a makeshift Oline
I don’t disagree, but going twice in your first five years, plus a Super Bowl appearance and multiple playoff wins isn’t particularly good evidence that someone sucks
Stafford went once as an alternate and had a nice game from what I remember
