Campbell has cajones, but he also has grown a brain

There were countless decisions that Dan Campbell made this afternoon that were top notch, but the one I want to bring focus on was at the 2:00 minute warning.

Yes, everyone could see that the play clock was just a tick faster than the game clock. But Dan knew better. He had been burned by this before against Baltimore and had learned from it.

There would be no rush to get the play off out of fear of getting a five yard delay of game penalty. He remembered: the process is for the ref to see :00 and then look for the snap. Well, obviously before that happened, Dan knew it would be at the 2:00 minute warning.

He knew that common sense would not play a factor in the decision, and he was right. Our coach remembers.

Dan Campbell has always been smarter than anyone on this forum regardless of what any of our posters think.

Dan Campbell is the best coach we’ve ever had.

It was a great move, but it also requires the refs to do the right thing. In the past the Lions have gotten screwed on simple things that would have worked for other teams.

Yet today the lions got screwed on a few falls and overcame them and won. This was a different lions win.

Yeah but we were given a few too. I think the reffing was 50/50, if not a little on our side.

He gets better every game.

We win games even when we get screwed on bad plays and bad calls.

Just keep overcoming

This is what I was gonna say. We lose that game most of the time the past 40 years.

I’m starting to really believe

They took a TD away from us in the 1st quarter, they owed us a couple calls

That defense is loaded with expensive players and we ■■■■■■■ bitch slapped em all day.

There wasn’t any question who the better team was. We outclassed them all day. The score doesn’t reflect that but who cares we won

Exactly my brother. 50 to 27 sounds about right without the shenanigans.

Just glad we won. That’s all that matters.

Absolutely.

The fact people think he didn’t is actually just more of a compliment to his smarts.

I hope everyone keeps on thinking he’s got no brains. Proves how dumb some people are.

I do think Dan is growing as a coach. He’s getting better at knowing when to be and when not be aggressive.

I love his aggressive nature but he has been too aggressive and at the wrong times in the past. He’s getting better at it.

You can see his growth as a young HC and that’s very encouraging to me.

And gave the Charges a TD with the PI on Sutton

Its interesting looking back and seeing that one of his worst decisions as a coach came when he wasn’t aggressive and wasn’t conservative. We all remember the field goal attempt against the Vikings. That was a WTF moment. The analytics said to go for it or punt. The field goal was a decision falling between the two.

As aggressive as he was in this game he did punt when the announcers thought he should be kicking a long field goal.

How long did Green Bay have the lead in both of there wins over the Lions a couple years? Something like 30s total.
