being on this stuff right now, I “feel” like I do on a long fast… specifically I don’t have any “urge” to eat… that enzyme in the brain is shut off…. I am pooping like I would on a fast as well… like less than once a day right now…
This drug imho literally makes you shift into fast immediately (point after ketosis)… it’s crazy efficient with exercise…
Then, when I do eat, it has a chemical that give you a false single about the amount of food you actually have in yourself in the tummy. I take a few bits of anything and my body again “feels” completely full. A few times it felt bloated even… so right now, I have to concentrate on not eating too much at a sit down…
So my drivr to eat, that hunger feeling is taken away … as well as when I do eat, I can’t overdo it in anyway as well… and i amazingly still have the energy to go do things… did my two mile “recovery walk” only 36 hours after the half… last year I had to wait almost three days…
Oh, I pay for a follow-up appointment with me doc as well. As stated in my last post, I need someone to smack me if I were to move down the path of more is better… she will cut my authorization for the lepbound on the spot if needed!
There are bad actors for sure, but to claim that “doctors” as a whole are getting kickbacks is inccurate. It is a slippery slope since most physicians benefit from involvement with drug studies or an occasional meal from a drug rep. But kickbacks are illegal and have serious consequences
I’ll bow out since I know there is no convincing people who are unwilling to examine their own biases
If you are interested in seeing what kinds of benefits your physician may see, CMS has a helpful website for you to review.
I get a million feeds on this shit and how you can now just get it online in pill form vs the shots… it’s about money.
I go to a place called Restore… to do the O2 therapy and they have the sales on the wall for it as well… “east as one consult with our certified staff”! It’s crazy. Fact is seeing it at this place made me ask about it to my doctor as a possible path to lose weight and now here I am! 177 when I was 207 40 days ago…
If not managed correctly it’s a addiction waiting to happen…
On the vaccine front, it appears that doctors are given bonuses for achieving high vaccine rates from insurance companies, because the insurers know they improve health outcomes and reduce payouts. This is just a case of science and market forces at work and not a kickback by any stretch of the imagination. Also, the margins on vaccination for doctors is very low, it seems, approaching zero.
Physicians don’t get kickbacks for putting patients on GLP’s. Moreso they risk losing the patient entirely. The horror stories as listed above reflect a tiny minuscule proportion of the number of people that actually benefit from GLP1s. Whomever said it above is correct. We have been using this for Diabetes treatments for a long time. Even advanced refractive migraines. Its use has expanded, and with that, abuse.
Doctors don’t get bonuses for basically anything, outside of orthopedic surgeons. Pretty much the rest operate by a governmental system of withholding. If you practice other than governmental safe practice mandates on at risk measures, you lose reimbursement from CMS.
As for Doctors who go to work in med spas and don’t take insurance, these regulations are less relevant and they are revenue driven. Ex: you know what you are getting when you go to a plastic surgeon. They are not there to fix your body dysmorphic disorder, just to do the work to cash. People are not there for medical advice.
I don’t think the use of the GLPs is above board on all cases (like many meds), but I have seen literally countless people now benefit from them. Activity, ability to work, mental health, reduction in back pain (and projected spine surgery decline), and obviously diabetic management. Like other drugs, some people just abuse it. Sorry for the diatribe.
dopesick was a great series where doctors were presented with false or misleading information, and because they want to inherently help people they would prescribe it and see the results for oxy working. And the pharma reps were the ones being pushed to make sales because it was making them MASSIVE amounts of money along with purdue pharma.
but the information presented to them as accurate was extremely misleading and borderline false.
There are bad doctors that will prescribe for cash. Sure. There are bad actors in every walk of life who are out for themselves among all others.
But the fact that the sacklers were allowed to just write a check and just walk away for knowingly producing false/misleading information that led to the deaths of thousands is what’s really criminal.
My doctor won’t prescribe it to women over 40 without adding testosterone as well. Like anything else it can be abused. I will tell you I tried the shots for 2 weeks and lost 10 pounds. The stuff absolutely can turn off that hunger switch.
I have heard that a lot of prescribing physicians really try and suggest that patients be on a strength training program as well to counter potential muscle loss.
This has been projected by Wall Street for a couple years now, with follow on reshuffling of portfolio weighting re- Frito Lay, Fast Food stocks, Kraft etc…
It’s the “I could stand to lose 5 pounds” crowd abusing it, South Park had a great episode about this 2 years ago now. They lose their 5, then the body dysmorphia kicks in, then they hear all of that ‘you can never stop taking it or it comes right back,’ and you get more and more cases like Wilde.
It’s a really good treatment for obesity, but there definitely needs to be a larger conversation about what to do once people get into healthy weight ranges. Even people who were once obese just keep going, and they start to look really weird. The Simpsons actually has an episode about that one.
As someone who’s wife works in the medical field her observations has been that this isnt the case way too often as people that dont need it are getting told that they cant succeed without it by some doctors… again anecdotes but they are hopefully the exception to the rule so to speak.
well lets not forget food and drink are expensive, people (including myself) are cutting back across the board.
plus fast food prices are insane. fridays are a minicheat day for me food wise. little place by me has delicious fried chicken (no breading just seasoning the skins then deep frying them) and for 2 thighs (white meat is too dry for me to eat) and a 1 liter of diet pepsi it’s like 7.50. One time I couldn’t get there so I got a popeyes for early dinner. 2 thighs (breaded sadly) and a large soda, $14.
