Can You Imagine? Dude Quit Mid Game

Losing the 4 best players on his side of the football doesn’t help… You think Goff “carries the load” without the 4 guys I mentioned? Or do his limitations start showing as well?

Don’t get me started on my deusional Steelers fan friend. What a spoiled bunch of… people

Goff can still operate a full offense. Yes his production will diminish and any QB would.

I’m not talking about production. I’m talking about a QBs ability to play the position. I’ve seen enough of Purdy to know he has limitations as a true pocket passer. Doesn’t mean he’s not a franchise QB. It just means he cant make the throws a Stafford, Goff, Burrow or heck even a Cousins makes consistently. He is a suped up version of Jimmy G and thats great in the right situations.

The Lions aren’t picking up a guy that quit on his team regardless of circumstance

I think if San Francisco and Purdy could come to an agreement to pay him $35-$40 million it might work. You could still keep a decent team around him and pay him what he’s probably worth.

Anyone who suggests that the Lions pick up this guy still doesn’t get the culture that Dan has built in Detroit.

I’ll disagree bc of his age alone. I do think he has obvious limitations, I just think judging him based on this season isn’t fair… Much like judging Goff based on 2021 alone isn’t fair. He’s in the best possible scenario for success in SF… He’d be wise to resign for a “reasonable” contract. Unless someone like the Rams comes calling

My best guess is that they trade a couple of draft picks for Trey Lance.

It is Jerry Jones they’re dealing with so they might get Trey Lance plus a couple of picks back.

I think the people who suggest otherwise don’t understand he’s already put players that are problem child’s like this on the roster.

Like I said. It’s unlikely but I wouldn’t blindly rule it out. Dan himself has said his roster can support a player or two like this.

Dan believes in second chances.

We’re not talking long term here. We’re talking short term solutions.

I think this is right. And, if a player doesn’t work out, the Lions aren’t afraid to move on. Bruce Irvin came in, made one play, then was shown the door after two games & 29 total snaps on defense:

I saw Paul Pierce on TV last night discussing this situation…
and Pierce made a statement that made me laugh.

He said something like… “you football players are weird… you would never see a NBA player do that.”

:roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

Are you freaking kidding me Paul?

NBA players take “rest days” and don’t play games even when healthy!!!

And… for him to ignore the fact that a football can be 1 more hit away from CTE at any moment… just struck me as a ridiculous thing to say.

Fair. I mean we did have 5 guys get busted for gambling, and a few of them were gambling on the nfl. That got swept under the rug pretty quick. Buggs wasn’t exactly a choir boy. So you have a point. Quitting on your teammates mid game would be a tough sell though in the Lions locker room.

Well it’s not blindly, it’s based on the fact we watched - with our eyes very much open - him walk out on his team this past weekend.

You clearly have good contacts in the organization and I agree Campbell said we had room for a couple of guys who aren’t choir boys, but even with all of that, I think there’s a 0% chance we bring this guy in.

I would NEVER say 0 percent chance….not with this regime

Bring him in and feed him to Sewell.

See I think it’s easier with this regime. Like, any player who’s lazy, entitled, or disinterested: 0% chance. Bad teammate: 0% chance.

They also take very calculated risks too….so I don’t think they would rule anything out
