Losing the 4 best players on his side of the football doesn’t help… You think Goff “carries the load” without the 4 guys I mentioned? Or do his limitations start showing as well?
Goff can still operate a full offense. Yes his production will diminish and any QB would.
I’m not talking about production. I’m talking about a QBs ability to play the position. I’ve seen enough of Purdy to know he has limitations as a true pocket passer. Doesn’t mean he’s not a franchise QB. It just means he cant make the throws a Stafford, Goff, Burrow or heck even a Cousins makes consistently. He is a suped up version of Jimmy G and thats great in the right situations.
I think if San Francisco and Purdy could come to an agreement to pay him $35-$40 million it might work. You could still keep a decent team around him and pay him what he’s probably worth.
I’ll disagree bc of his age alone. I do think he has obvious limitations, I just think judging him based on this season isn’t fair… Much like judging Goff based on 2021 alone isn’t fair. He’s in the best possible scenario for success in SF… He’d be wise to resign for a “reasonable” contract. Unless someone like the Rams comes calling
I think this is right. And, if a player doesn’t work out, the Lions aren’t afraid to move on. Bruce Irvin came in, made one play, then was shown the door after two games & 29 total snaps on defense:
Fair. I mean we did have 5 guys get busted for gambling, and a few of them were gambling on the nfl. That got swept under the rug pretty quick. Buggs wasn’t exactly a choir boy. So you have a point. Quitting on your teammates mid game would be a tough sell though in the Lions locker room.
Well it’s not blindly, it’s based on the fact we watched - with our eyes very much open - him walk out on his team this past weekend.
You clearly have good contacts in the organization and I agree Campbell said we had room for a couple of guys who aren’t choir boys, but even with all of that, I think there’s a 0% chance we bring this guy in.
