“It was just the terms of the deal, which … I’m just going to keep undisclosed,” Davis said. “It was like the language inside of it that I wasn’t really fond of. So that was really it for sure.”
Yeah this was a major blunder. Not only did we get the worst corner out of the deal but we also gave up a 3rd round pick for him. You would think giving up a 3rd round pick that you would plan on resigning him. Another wasted mid round pick that could have helped build this team.
Once again… DJ Reed was good, before suffering a grade 2 strain on his hammy
yes, a leg injury that is notorious for not going away affected a player who plays arguably the hardest position on the field.
who knew
(on a more serious note, im wondering if there was more incentives baked into the deal than what CD3 wanted, cant judge unless we all saw the contract for our own eyes)
Davis’s play here is remembered more fondly than it should be because it was during a good overall Lions season. He was fine - and certainly better than post-injury Reed - but not some stud locking guys down on the outside. The Pats had the most cap space and gave out the biggest contracts, otherwise I think we would have easily gotten him back.
Disner is so well regarded in the way that he handles the cap, contracts and other duties that he is getting GM nibbles which isn’t that common from the finances of building/maintaining a roster side.
And a similar structure may save our bacon a bit with Kerby.
