I still get so annoyed when ESPN (that owns the SECN) hyped up the SEC like it’s so much better than the B10.
These teams are comparable across the board.
B10 just has 4 garbage teams and SEC only 2
SEC and ESPN getting ridiculed forctheir whining prior to playing the nine game conf schedule. Numerous tweets like this.

And Michigan plays Oklahoma while bama plays Florida St.

Massey index uses historical data. (Favoring more recent data) as well as weighs home and away games.
Alabama is 24 SOS. Michigan 2 only behind texas
Sos is pointless right now. Prime example Penn state was supposed to be a playoff team. So ranking sos right not means nothing. Just like the number you’re ranked now will change

When using Polls absolutely means nothing.
Computer rankings are at least closer.
ESPN last 2 seasons had SEC teams on AVERAGE 10 ranks higher than were they finished! Average!
Where massey sure the RANKING is almost completely based on last year.
But the SOS is based on historical data.
Where ESPN is only using its Rankings (which already have a SEC bias)
ESPN only 1 non SEC team is in the top 14 for hardest SOS.
Massey has 7 B10 and 7 SEC.
So sure the entire SEC is in the top 25. But they arnt virtually all the top 16.
Thats the key difference.
Also the remaining 5/6 remaining b10 teams just missed the top 30. All within 40.

SEC adds: clemson, FSU, Miami, Georgia Tch, texas Tech, TCU, Okst, Kansas St.
Split them east and west.
4 divisions of 12.
Play all 11 of your divisions, plus 3 outside your division (one from each)

Why can’t we just say both conferences are really good? Sometimes the Big 10 is better sometimes the SEC is better, but what matters most is they’ve played the system so that they’re inarguably better than everyone else. It’s all basically one giant Power 1 league anyway

I don’t disagree but the SEC and ESPN are working hard to set the narrative in case the league doesn’t have enough 10-2 or better teams for the playoffs.

B10 and SEC are super similar.
The problem is ESPN owns the SEC network and CFP so they hype them up more. Thus makes the average joe that doesn’t know better say “oh it means more bru”

I mean if it were an issue that ESPN was endlessly hyping the SEC, how has the Big 10 been able to dominate them on the field and in the final standings the past few years anyway? Answer: none of ESPN’s blowharding matters on the field.
