Two things
Alabama brand
SEC power
Will see if the committee bucks that.

I think you have the teams right, no idea on ranking
I will NEVER root for any ex Pac 12 teams in the Big 10
I guess I don’t see Alabama as a better team. Maybe they are, but I watched both their games against Vandy and Oklahoma, and I’m just not impressed at all.
The top 4 are pretty much locked.
1 Oregon, 2 Georgia, 3 Boise 4 Az St.
The question is where do you put
Texas, Penn st and Clemson.
The 5 others are
1 ND
2 OSU
3 Tennessee
4 Indiana
5 Bama
I would slot them in ahead of OSU. So they all get home field.
Playing in the Con Champ game has to mean something
Yep, it’s probably just a bit of name bias thinking Alabama is better.
Maybe they should have a "Play In’ series between SMU, Alabama, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. 3 Game series to be played next weekend. 2 Games on Saturday and with the 2 winners playing each other on Sunday.
Boise plays in a weak conference. Where would they be ranked in the sec big10 or big12??
So I went back to 2021, no at Large team has had 3 losses. Only 3 loss teams ranked in top 12 by the committee were Division winners (Utah, KS St).
I didn’t feel like going back any further
I struggle with Ohio State and Penn State. On one hand, you can say Penn State got through the conference with one loss, while Ohio State had two. On the other hand, they didn’t play Oregon in conference either so that takes some shine off. and they lost directly to OSU at home. OSU’s home loss to Michigan was not impressive, but also not a blowout either. They usually go with the team who went to the CC though as it was a plus game.
I think if the committee was honest, Texas, UGA, Ohio St., and Oregon are the bye seeds as the best teams. Notre Dame having a case over OSU. They won’t do that though.
Smu best win is what ? Louisville?
Other than that they played no one and lost to a middling BYU team.
Alabama beat South Carolina. So that takes out South Carolina.
Alabama beat Georgia and South Carolina
Yes they had bad losses but if SMU played Bamas schedule they would have 3-5 losses.
I hate Bama as much as anyone else. But they are the best of the rest.
Am I wrong in thinking that part of the playoff format was the top four seeds, first round bye, have to be conf champions?
Top 5 Con champs get in.
I agree if they played in a bigger conference they would be much lower.
And i would argue that Clemson SHOULD be the 4th team with a bye
But they were ranked higher
Was that rule, it might be. Not sure I haven’t followed it closely. I thought it was like the NCAA. Where they are gauranteed a spot but not a top seed.
To clarify, “at large” is supposed to signify a non-conference champion. That includes the teams that lost yesterday, even if they did make the championship game.
The byes are rewarded to conference champions.
I know, so the only teams to make the top 12 with 3 losses all the way back thru 2021 were Conference champions. No other teams made the top 12 with 3 losses.
I don’t hate Alabama. I am indifferent actually.
Again, I don’t think Alabama would beat SMU. I think SMU is a better team.
If we are going to play the what if game, SMU would not have lost to Vanderbilt or Oklahoma.
This was done in an attempt to prevent teams (and players) from packing it in during their championship game. Oregon almost certainly would’ve been ranked in the top 4 if they lost yesterday, so there would’ve been no incentive for them to win their championship game if they were getting a bye regardless.
Alabama vs. OSU? Is it OK for me to root for neither team to advance?
Yes. @HSVLion will root for both and on average the two of you will be rooting normally.
