Good coach IMO. I’d take him somewhere on this staff (further down the pecking order) but he can and will do better.

You’re right about the NCAA calendar which is ridiculous. The offseason shouldn’t start until the….offseason not right before the playoff but it doesn’t change the fact that Lane is the ultimate prick. Apparently he’s pushing Ole Miss to let him coach in the playoffs and is threatening to poach players in the portal if they don’t, as if he isn’t doing that anyway. No chance in hell do I want this guy coaching my team if he signs elsewhere, the moment he commits to LSU he’s gone.

Some players are going to follow him to LSU and some staff will follow him also. I guess I don’t get the Ole Miss angle by making this public like it’s some devious thing.
I think the big tho g is LSU is willing to commit to 25 mil in NIL each year. That has to be appealing. I believe Lane that it was a tough decision for him, but I think Ole Miss may be making it a little easier for him.

Its not same way for him though. Msu will fire him after two seasons. Nil is supposed to be better with batt , but i just dont see Fitzgerald being the answer unless you want 4-6 wins a year and thats what Smith was.

I’m not for or against Fitzgerald at MSU, but keep in mind the academic standards at Northwestern and the impact it has on recruiting.
Im not sure thats a big thing anymore as it might have been 10 years ago.
It definitely impacts transfers and recruits. It impacts Michigan with transfers, that’s why Moore hasn’t been overly active in the portal. Perhaps it shouldn’t be, but Northwestern hasn’t made any changes I’m aware of.

Fitzgerald would be a fantastic hire for MSU! Took Northwestern to 10 bowl games and knows the area for recruiting!
