With the drafting of Zach Frazier in the 5th round, added to taking Tate Rutledge in the second, the Lions now have a boatload of players to compete for the two guard positions. This is on top of Kayode Awosika, Colby Sorsdal, Graham Glasgow, Christian Mahogany, Netani Muti, Michael Niese, and I’m not even including Gio Manu. That’s a lot of bodies for three, maybe four positions on the team. I think BH and MCDC are looking to remake the position. Walter Football says Frazier could “start sooner rather than later.”
Frazier is a stud. Great get in the 5th. He and Rutledge were 2 of my favorites outside the consensus 1st round guards.
These two plus Mahogany feel like a dirt cheap way to build an OL for a reasonable overall cost despite having big contracts in Sewell, Decker and Ragnow
Been riding Holmes hard for some of these trades but this one was perfect. No future assets and go up and get the guy you want. Love nailing down the interior of the Line.
This is how you afford to keep all your studs. Find some areas where you can ride some cheap talent for the next 4 years.
Agreed 100%
The Lions have put together a clinic on how to develop and sustain a dominant OL.
Pay for LT, C and RT. Plug the gaps with rookie contracts. That’s the recipe for an affordable, top 5 O-line, the talent on either side of each guard raises their individual floors.
Absolutely LOVE this pick! Everything I have read and seen on Frazier is encouraging. Our O-Line is our strength and Ratledge and Frazier keep it strong. Love this pick!!!
Keep a strength your strength. Whole offense depends on good line play. Could be genius picks for this.
The oline depth is deep… Very deep. Young and talented.
get ready, we just drafted an OG…

Wait, wut, Dan Jackson is an OG?

…and in an area of STRENGTH
we also got Tate Rutledge @ OG- don’t see the problem @frm710 .
LOL, just having some fun, kind of went over your head.
Keep being you!! DenHOF’er

Zach Frazier in the 5th round
I wonder if Frazier’s experience at OT will help him get active on game day. Having a guy who can play both OG and OT in a pinch would really be helpful for this upcoming season. I know Sorsdal was supposed to be that, but it doesn’t look good on that front. It’s really handy when making decisions on who to stay active on game day
