Daniel Jeremiahs big board. - Justin Fields stock is dropping

Here’s a look at his most recent big board and there are a lot of surprises on here. You’ll notice a lot of mock drafts will follow his direction in recent weeks

Let’s talk about his board.

Daniel Jeremiah’s top 50 prospects in 2021 draft

  1. Justin Fields at 12OA - I’ve been very vocal that I’m not as big on Fields as many here are. It seems Daniel is in the same belief. He ranked him behind Wilson and Lance. That should stir the masses here. Personally I think Fields take the Haskins route and continue to drop the closer we get towards the draft. If you recall many early mock had Haskins going with first or second off the board.

  2. Sewell is not the top OT on his board. He has Sewell as at 10OA and I’ve noticed a growing trend in mocks ranking Slater ahead of Sewell. I have long believed that two OT’s will go in the top 10. They always do.

  3. J. Chase as the top WR and the 2OA player on his board. Personally I think Smith goes before him but this years draft clearly holds several studs in it. He has 3 ranked in the top 10 and 5 with first round grades.

  4. K. Pitts at 3OA - Yeah I don’t see it or get the Pitts hype. He’s slower and smaller than both Fant and Ebron. I think Pitts will be an excellent NFL TE but I wouldn’t take him in the top 1/2 of round one.

  5. Rousseau is the top DE/Edge on his board at 13OA but he’s expecting a run on them. He has 3 in the top 20.

Let’s here your thoughts.

It’s interesting the how successful players on SuperBowl teams can influence the draft.

Teams will dream of the next Kelcey … so a TE or two will likely be over drafted.

Watching Tyreke will make it difficult to pass up speed at WR.

As to Fields, it wouldn’t surprise me if he drops a little. OSU QBs have proven difficult to evaluate. Someone will probably take the risk, since it’s the QB position.

DE and LT are also such high value positions, that it causes teams to reach a little. Slater and Sewell will go early.

The only thing shocking on that board is Sewell not being the #1 OT… I’d bet he will be by draft day. Gotta change these rankings every week for the next 3 months to keep people interested, ya know.

I think Smith still goes below Chase.

It’s all about generating talk and page hits. He needs to set up for future movement up and down his board.

Jeremiah is usually pretty legit, not saying he isn’t but he doesn’t do the shocker mock drafts usually

I swore up and down that his 2019 Mock 1.0 was clickbait. He had us taking Hockenson of all things.

I thought Ruggs would go behind Lamb and Juedy last year. It only takes one team to like his traits the best.

But I like Smith the best.

Like last year there are 3 stud WR’s. However I thought last years had 4 studs. I was huge on Jefferson last year. But anyone of those 3 could be the top guy.

Yeah you just made me laugh in a Zoom with my mic off

I think he could go behind Waddle too, given the way the league loves speed (see Ruggs last year) and hates taking risks. And Smith is a risk as a prospect, here’s a good explanation of it:

I still love him, mind you, I’m just saying why he might go later than people think.

Yeah he’s light in the cakes I don’t think he’s going to test exceptionally well.

Fields or Nixon in the first round and I am happy. Now that Stafford is gone I am completely on the Fields train with our first pick.

Get Nixon with our perceived 2nd 1st round pick from a Stafford trade and get Fields with our first pick…I would do cartwheels for days I would be so happy

Grinch Scheming

All part of the plan. Kiper had him mocked here in his 1.0 he dropped today also. Oh yeah, it’s all coming together.

I think both of you are on the right track.

His comp may be this guy:

Name one OSU QB that has done anything in the NFL in the last 15 years, it’s been all hype and the QB’s have not translated the college success to the NFL. Part of it is the success of the OSU system that makes the OSU QB’s seem better than they are.

Hear what you’re saying, but the same thing was said about Jeff Tedford coached QBs (Trent Dilfer, Billy Volek, AJ Feeley, Akili Smith, Joey Harrington), before the dreaded arm on the frozen tundra broke that string and is now considered one of the best QBs to ever play in the NFL.

Hey Trent Dilfer won a SB! J/K
But I hear what you saying. I just have a nagging feeling Fields will translate over to the NFL just like Haskins did (or should I say DID NOT)

You should say that about Texas Tech until Mahomes.

Oregon until Herbert and…you know what I’m tired of typing the same thing over and over

Not only Oregon QBs but people always criticized Jeff Tedford-QBs at the pro level until Aaron Rodgers… :man_shrugging:

Haskins, who was a one-year starter in college, seems to me to be an immaturity/lack of worth ethic issue, which Fields (who had 22 starts), reportedly, does not have. They may have played at the same school, but two different people.
