DE Payton Turner put on IR--season over

As many of us said in the thread when he first got injured–at least they weren’t counting on him to be DE2 this year.

Well played

I never really thought he was in the mix. Honestly, I think he was lower on the depth chart than Lucas and O’Neill.

I know Payton is always injured but since when did IR end your season? I thought guys could come back from IR. At least 7 or 8 guys allowed to return I thought. Hard to keep up, they change the rules every year.

I think thats for guys who make the active 53 man roster, after final cut downs. Before the final roster is set, any player who starts camp as part of the 90 man roster, you only get 2 IR to return designations. Anyone else on put on IR, it’s like the old rules, it’s automatically a season ender.

I forgot he was on the team

Thanks brother.

So once the regular season starts you can come back from IR but not from training camp IR?

I swear they change the rules every year

2 people can from the training camp IR. One for sure will be Mays, the other is most likely Rolder, unless the team feels he will be back week 1. Branch and Joseph will start on PUP, since they never were on the camp opening 90 man roster.

Once the season starts, I think you get 8 more designated return from IR for in season injuries. Then 2 additional ones for the playoffs? Someone can fill in the blanks there, but I thought it totaled 10. That was the massive problem in 2024, where Iffy went on IR - designated to return twice, and Campbell was pissed because they essentially lost a spot they needed for a broken finger.

I’m at least less confused. Thanks bud.

Dare I ask one more question…. What list is Manu on? How is that different than PUP or IR

NFI - Non Football Injured

It means he didn’t get hurt during offseason football activity, like an OTA. Basically, it’s reserved for a player who injures themselves but didn’t do so relating to football. I don’t know the full rules, but I do believe it affects how the team pays Manu. I also think that he can be activated at any time, however if it happens after the 53 man roster is set, he must miss the next 4 weeks post activation. Similar to how PUP is. PUP would be used if a player had been hurt during a football activity.

Funny how we have heard absolutely nothing about Manu for months

I think Manu is done as a Lion. I think the only thing that is going on, is lawyers are involved working out some sort of a settlement.

I know I said this when the Manu injury was originally reported, but I believe there were some serious shananigans that Manu tried to pull. What we know for sure is, Manu showed up to camp, tried to practice, then reported he was injured. Campbell said Manu later stated that he was hurt during the offseason, before camp started.

What I THINK happened, is Manu injured himself somehow during the offseason, and tried to hide it coming into camp, hoping that if he got hurt during camp, he could easily go on IR and continue to get paid full money. However, once team trainers realized he was hurt, whatever his injury is, it’s clear and obvious it did not happen in the course of the practice and that it was a prior injury. They would’ve reported that to Campbell, and the jig was up. It is either that, or Manu was scared of potentially losing his roster spot if he told the truth ahead of time and just tried to hide it and grit through it, thinking it would either heal on it’s own over time or while working with team trainers. Then the injury proved to be too painful or obvious so he had to come out with it. Either way, it’s shady as hell and disingenuous.

More wasted cap space on an oft injured player. Did he even get one day in pads before he got hurt?

Or he knew this camp was his last shot. He could have tried to play through the injury for that reason. Either way it is becoming very clear he isn’t an nfl caliber player. Shame we couldn’t siphon off his athletic ability and given it to Glasgow last year.

Manu is 100% done.
