I’m very excited about this Michigan team. If they can solve the turnover problems, they could be a sweet 16 type of team.

Pistons are legit! I’m a Magic fan, but have to root for the Pistons with as bad as it’s been for awhile.

Tyler Herro- 3pt bomber and bucket getter 2 guard. Very poor mans Chris Mullin.
Jimmy Butler- Disgruntled benched superstar. Sore subject.
Duncan Robinson- 3 and no D.
Terry Rozier- Vet PG, kinds meh player that is a high volume low shooting% scoring PG on a bad team, on Miami he is kinda Kenny Smith-ish
Denver- Nikola Jokic. Transcendent triple double threat at C. No real comp for him. Unicorn. HoF.
Aaron Gordon- Atheltic energy over sized SF. Dunker. Kinda Xavier McDaniel-y
Michael.Porter Jr. - talented often hurt stretch 4.
Jamaal.Murray- scoring pg, decline phase after solid career.
Russell Westbrook- end of career HoF triple.double pg. Terrible shooter. Great defender too. Oscar Robertson but smaller/faster/shittier shooter.

Alright, now this is getting damn interesting.
The Pistons are on a 7 game winning streak - their longest in over a decade.
Tonite, they snapped a ten game losing streak to the Clippers and James harden.
They just won their 32nd game - more than the last two years combined.
They now sit in the sixth seed and are only two games out of the #4 seed.
- The sixth seed is the lowest seed that is not involved in the ‘play-in’ tournament.
Cade has cut down on his turnovers and is truly balling out specially in the clutch.
Ausar is a future DPOY - 4 steals tonite, and always gives fits to the other team’s star.
Duren - 19 rebounds and is blossoming before our eyes. The alley oops are awesome!
Beasley broke the team record for three pointers in a season - with alot of games to go.
Harris and Hardaway are the veteran leaders who teach the game like coaches.
Stewart looks real comfortable coming off the bench and patrols the middle like he owns it.
Schroeder is EXACTLY what this team needed off the bench. Ball handler and tough D.
Holland, all 19 years of him, is going to “get it” real soon. Another defensive stud.
The thing that is very different: When watching a tight game, you no longer say “How will they lose this one”, instead you feel like they are going to find somehow, some way to win. I haven’t felt that way about the Pistons in at least 15 years.

I agree this Pistons team is legit. The guys are finding their roles and JB is pulling the right strings.
Celtics game on Wednesday should be a great measure of progress.
They are playing really good team defense and that is fun to watch. Stewart gives them swagger and toughness. Cade is legit and our role players are really good. This is fun to watch!

Takes a lot longer for an NHL franchise to turn around than an NBA team. One guy in the NBA can carry a team. It’s taken Cade 4 years as a number one pick to get there.
Unlike the NBA, NHL draft picks generally don’t start in the NHL, they usually spend a couple years in the minors before hitting the stage and ever when they do, it takes a bit for them to take off unless they’re some sort of mutant like McDavid - and if they do, they’re generally not that great, see: Jack Hughes’ 21 points in 61 games his rookie season and wasn’t even a PPG player until year 3.
The Wings right now, by most people, have one of the best prospect pools in all of the NHL.
Red Wings first round picks under Yzerman:
2019 - Seider (23) is a stud
2020 - Raymond (22) is arguably the best offensive player on the team
2021 - Edvinsson (22) is in his first full NHL season and is 2nd in D scoring on the Wings and leads the team in +/-.
2021 - Cossa (22) has gotten better every year and has a .914 SV% and 2.34 GAA in Grand Rapids, which are both good for 7th best in the AHL.
2022 - Kasper (20) is in his first season and is #8 in points on the team, and only a couple points away from being #6.
2023 - Nate Danielson (20) is in his first season in GR and is #5 on the Griffins in scoring and is the #2 forward on the team in +/-.
2023 - Axel Sandin-Pellika (19) is an absolute stud. Just finished up the U20 World Juniors as the #2 point scorer with 4 goals and 6 assists in 7 games. Has 11 goals and 15 assists in 39 games in the SHL where he’s a 19 year old playing against men. He’s a defenseman with insane offensive ability.
2024 - Michael Brandsegg-Nygard (19) is a pretty good prospect. He’s in his first season in the SHL this year and is having a pretty tough year. But he did have 3 goals and 2 assists in 5 games in the World Juniors for Norway and did have 10 points in 12 playoff games in 2023-24 with Mora IK.
This only covers 1st round picks. Nothing to mention of some of the gems the Wings have found later in the draft. Guys like Buium (2nd round 2021) who had 7 goals and 29 assists in the AHL last year, Dmitri Buchelnikov (2nd round 2022) who has 13 goals and 32 assists in 55 games in the KHL this year, etc, etc.
SO yeah, it seems slow moving, but Yzmeran’s core is just starting to get into the league and we’re seeing the returns with the beginning with guys like Raymond, Seider, and Edvinsson hitting the league. For what it’s worth, the Wings are now competitive and while I don’t like everything Yzerman has done (Chairot, Copp and Compher contracts). He’s done good by locking up his good guys and bringing in additional talent (DeBrincat, Kane) to make the team competitive while his core guys are brewing in the minors.
Everyone wants to knock Yzerman, but the NHL is a different beast. It’s not like the NBA or NFL - guys aren’t coming in out of the draft and making huge impacts immediately. It’s much more similar to baseball where you draft a guy and then you hope to see him in 4 or 5 years. If these prospects keep developing like they have, the Wings are going to be loaded with talent in 4-5 years, and should be improving each year along the way.

It’s been a fun run but to add a little perspective to this, they’ve beaten the Mavs without Luka, Bulls 3 times, Sixers, Hornets, Spurs without Wemby, Hawks and Clippers so it’s been a very forgiving schedule BUT it’s still impressive that they’re beating the teams they should beat, that’s usually a struggle for young teams to keep that energy.
With that said, they already have more wins this season than they had the last two seasons combined!!!
Pretty unreal turnaround which tells me two things, thank for Bickerstaff and screw you Monty for not caring at all to coach the group.

Next few games will be a good test. Boston, Denver. A split would be great.
They are truly getting better as the season goes on.
They started out something like 12-17. Since then, they’ve gone 20-9.
In the beginning of the year, I posted something like - should we really be rooting for them to get in the playoffs, they’re just going to get bounced in Round 1. That post has not aged well. I think there’s a real chance that they could win a series - maybe even two if they draw the Knicks and then the Pacers or Bucks.
The Cavs and Celtics are better teams right now, but I give this team a chance to compete with them soon, very soon, maybe next year.
After the game last night, Duren was just about begging the fans to come out. He said something like: We’re just trying to get the fans behind us right now. We’re a scrappy gritty team learning how to win. We see how this city can support a winner - look at the Lions. We want to get there.
Cade said that they feel that they are better prepared for every opponent than the opponent is prepared for them. That says it all right there. It burns me that Monty Williams is still collecting hefty checks for the non-effort he put in last year.

They’ve definitely been fun to watch this year. It’s been a rough almost 2 decades. Bickerstaff has done one hell of a job. Probably deserves coach of the year. Cade has definitely turned it around as well. He was a turnover machine in the fourth quarter during the first third of the year. He’s looking more like a bona fide stud these days.
