Greg Dortch was not going to make or break our season. Though I did like the signing.
Iām not overly worried about his loss as a returner, but I thought he was a very good #4 slot WR. Especially with Petzing.
Thereās also a chance this is gamesmanship, he doesnāt have to pass through waivers and has a relationship with Petzing, maybe heās agreed to come back.
I think its a bad move even if hes on PS.
Jones is not a vested vet, though. So cutting Dortch now to add Jones isnāt it.
He will likely be signed back with this just being roster gymnastics with a handshake deal to come back.

Dortch has a little over a $1 million guaranteed for 2026, so heāll get his money. He has a history with the OC Petzing.
It wouldnāt surprise ne at all if he is brought back to the roster relatively quickly after some other moves play out.
But we have SO many slot options. Our top do it pass catching weapons are at their most dangerous in the slot.
Iām surprised but when I saw him playing yesterday I did wonder a bit. I thought he was our punt returner. 
I agree, but Dortchās short-area juice is lightning quick, he was more of a one-for-one replacement for Khalif, not as good of a returner but a better WR. But youāre right, we have other, better players who can operate there, they just donāt bring the exact same skillset.
