It does seem dumb.
I live in Arizona and follow the Cardinals fairly closely and he’s always been a decent player.

God bless Dortch but a 5’7 receiver with a career high 400 yards in season doesn’t matter to half decent team
If Greg Dortch was ever counted on for anything outside of special teams then the season is off the rails

I must be an old soul because I hate the goofy numbers all over the place 
I don’t mind them at the skill positions. But TEs and DL rocking single digits or teens just doesn’t look right.

I don’t either but it’s shouting at clouds at this point. What I don’t really understand is what made lower = better. And that goes across sports. I guess I could understand the argument that single number fit better aesthetically, but that doesn’t work for numbers in the teens and people want those too.

I’m highly attached to the number 9. In some cases, I think that goes for others too. But I do remember when I played all the receivers wanted to wear 1-19.
It is interesting though…also highly unimportant haha
It’s about the brand and being unique… I don’t put much thought into it… I played hockey after all and we could wear any number we wanted.

That could happen. Both he and Martin seem to be peaking. Maybe Whiteside is gone to accomodate 6 WRs.

there are enough things I can’t or simply do not spell correctly to dog, I try to get it right , but there has been several times I haven’t. not just the spelling. I didn’t mean to offend you or make it “seem” like you didn’t know that, just pointing out it was a simple misspelling.

I’ve been thinking about the Dortch release. I do think it’s a part of roster shenanigans.
First, though, it’s not a sign that we’re putting someone on IR to return. We left one of those slots open from the preseason, so why would we use up one of the 8 we get during the regular season? So it’s not that.
Rather, there are two important moves we made which are rooted in gamesmanship. First, we had to protect O’Neill. Pass rushing chops are too important in this league, and he would not have made it through waivers. And we certainly would not like to see a team like, oh, Chicago pick him up and use him against us.
Second, and this is quite amusing, we have to look at the running back room. We have five guys there. We don’t need five guys there. But there’s a very good reason we put Small on the roster. That very good reason comes from Roger Goodell, who put Josh Jacobs on the commissioner’s exempt list, thereby depriving the Packers of any RB juice. Keeping Small on the roster prevents the Packers from picking him up before the opening of their season, as well as giving us additional depth in case Pacheco isn’t ready to go at the start of the season. By not putting Pacheco on IR to return, he’ll be available as soon as he’s ready, which could very well be against the Saints.
So, here’s how I think it’s going down. I think we have a gentleman’s agreement with Dortch. He’s going to be our punt returner and WR4. But he’s going to start on the practice squad, and get elevated for up to the first three games of the season. And then we’re going to sign him. If we have to put someone on IR (to return or otherwise), he gets signed immediately. If not, we let someone go before the Carolina game. If it’s Small who gets cut, it’s much less likely he could help the Packers in a timely fashion.
The Dortch release is a FTP move.
