Draft talk 2025/2026

Malik Benson is at the shrine? That dude can make a shit ton of money if he plays the way he did the tail end of the Big ten schedule.

Yeah everyone’s listing Benson as one of their favorite ones to watch at the Shrine. Do practices start tomorrow? Bad weekend to be in Dallas

Good point. Forgot about the weather. Though it’s cold here too right now. Cold for us at least.

I just started watching some tape on Monroe Freeling. I will admit I overlooked him just because he always had all the extra braces and pads. He just looked like a bag of body parts they stitched together in the medical tent. Well this dude is a freak as an athlete. He moves better than any OT I have watched this year. Pulling and moving to the 2nd level he just does it with ease. Pass protection he moves his feet and has no problem with speed off the edge. He will certainly stay at LT in the NFL. He has no problem finding his targets in space but he can overextend and just get tossed aside. He seems to lack strength when trying to move guys at the LOS. Overall he is a freak athlete that just needs to hit the weightroom.

Yes, exactly how I see it. Alas, the more I watch him - especially over the last half of the season - the more I realize he’ll never make it to us. Not in this class.

And I think the strength will come. He’s still young and relatively inexperienced. And there are signs of it, he’s just not consistent yet.

I do like Kilgore as a buy low. You get the 2024 version down there and you’re on to something. What would be your plan for Pavia?

No Edge? Taken care of in FA.

Look at the trade

I still have a couple more UGA games to watch and I didn’t dig into his history yet but he apparently had a shoulder injury. That would explain the arm brace he was wearing but it could have also slowed his upper body work in the weight room. If the injuries check out I could certainly see his stock skyrocket.

I know he played through an ankle injury in the middle of the season too.

Query: in the light our more than usual needs at other positions, who in this draft is worth trading up for? Lets skip the top five or so or maybe 10 but lets say a guy like Freeling is sitting at like 14 and we have an offer.

Yeah to me, Freeling may very well be worth trading up for. Still need to deep dive another game or two to feel really comfortable saying that, but definitely falling in love with the idea of him.

I still think there’s a chance Bain falls due to less than stellar traits, and I think he’d be worth targeting too. I saw where he committed to the Senior Bowl and at least plans to do everything, which nowadays is nuts for a guy with his pedigree. Brad and Dan are gonna LOVE him.

Mauigoa is another I could see us falling pretty hard for and trading if he starts to fall, but despite his less than prototypical traits, he’s the one I actually have the hardest time seeing fall. He’s just got such a high floor.

Finally, Downs. If he falls because he’s a safety, I’d be all for making a move for him.

(Personally I would also add McCoy, I just don’t know that he’s gonna check enough boxes for us to fall in love, which to me is a prerequisite for Brad to move. That he’s skipping the Senior Bowl despite being fully healthy and missing all year, at the very least I expect that to be a check in the ā€œconsā€ column for Brad and Dan).

Pavia I think he is a fun developmental type in round 6 he could be one to simulate against mobile QBs and we could get a vet backup so he would essentially be QB3 while he develops

Don’t love the trade tbh.

I just think he’s such a supermassive douchebag I don’t want him anywhere near the roster lol.

Could Christen Miller be our DE that moves inside on passing downs?

He’s listed 6’4 310 everywhere I look, did he check in smaller at the Shrine (if he’s there)? If not I’d prefer more of a true edge, Miller would be more like a Levi type if we went that route. Playing a 3T at edge.

Well we dont need 53 choir boys on the team.

I mean him to be pissed he didnt win heisman and say what he said it could be immaturity or it could be passion to be the best. a 6th rd gamble wouldnt be bad

Reminds me of a little bit of Manziel meets Brees definitley more on the Manziel then the Brees aspect. I mean the team did have CJGJ on the team at one point too and so we can handle 1

Well the CJGJ experiment didn’t exactly go well.

But I agree we don’t need all choir boys (and for the record I don’t think that’s what we have), but there’s a difference between guys who chirp or guys with tempers (like Branch) and bona fide douchebags, which I’m almost 100% certain Pavia is. And I thought that well before that interview, that was just more of the same.

And I mean, Manziel was a drug-using self-centered asshole too, I wouldn’t want him anywhere near the team either. Especially when there are so many other better options who aren’t like that (or 5’9) out there.
