But in comparison a little bit with Manziel compared to Pavia Manziel as a 1st round pick where Pavia in this mock is a 6th rd pick If he comes in and completely is just full on douchebag and pisses people off it is a easy release
Yeah, wouldnât be the end of the world given his cost, I just think if youâre punting on day 3 QBs, why not a guy who doesnât have personality issues? Theyâre all almost certain to fail anyway. Haynes King is a great kid and even better athlete. Fagnano might be this yearâs Tanner McKee. Sawyer Robertson has a little Purdy to his game. None of them are likely to hit, but at least they arenât colossal jerks.
I mean yes I am more a Robertson type myself unfortunately he was gone in round 6 in this Haynes King for some reasons wasnt on there I do like him as well I need to look more into Fagnano too
Seems Jager Burton is a Center we should keep an eye on. Props to Russ Brown with being on him before the Shrine Bowl. Seems like heâs going to look prescient here.
Unsurprisingly Ceyair Wright seems to be impressing. Inside-outside versatility should help his stock.
Yeah Iâve heard Burtonâs name a few times. Excited to go back and take a look at him.
Any CB who can stand out in this format usually makes it. It favors the WR so much (conversely, any WR who canât get open on air against a CB probably wonât make it).
Who was the Kentucky center we visited with like 3 times last year⌠or maybe it was the year before? I was sure we were drafting him late, I wonder where he ended up.
Eli Cox?
Yeah, thatâs him. Looks like he spent the year on the Texans practice squad.
I might throw Faulk into that list too, but I really like him soâŚ
I sort of thing they wonât trade up, but a list like this is moreso a list of candidates they like and hope fall to them, and then if they donât they trade down and try to pick up a starter like Mesidor, CJ Allen, Lomu, Proctor maybe depending how they feel about him.
I like Faulk too, he just doesnât solve our pressure problems. At least not for a while. But I do think our brass will like him. Good edge setter, and supposed to be a great kid and leader despite being so young. Heâs just not the sort of freaky athlete that you tend to get at the top of the draft. Heâs more Rousseau than Shemar Stewart. That doesnât preclude our FO from falling in love with him, I just think he should make it to us.
Yeah, if they want a true passer opposite Hutch they may not have time to wait on him. But I honestly think he is a top 10 player in this draft and a damn near perfect match for what the Lions like to do - and the traits they like. I do think he can develop a nasty pass rush in time but I also think he is good enough to be a day one starter in the NFL. A better version of Davenport/Commish/Paschal. And while I donât think he is super twitchy, he is pretty athletic. I mean he was top 10 on Feldmanâs Freak List. I think his upside is actually pretty high seeing he 285 lbs. Could be an absolute monster. And Dan loves the physical set-the-tone guys which is what he is, and he loves those guys who can play up and down the line. Just depends on what they want I guess.
I never forget good Cox.
We need to be more specific. We donât need pressure. We need quick pressure. Itâs a significantly more selective list unfortunately.

Shad Banks visits with Lions. Do we realize that we need more speed at LBer?
I hear this from a lot of the fans in here but I never heard Dan or any of the staff say this. I think Houston was the only guy we have had during Danâs time here and we obviously didnât appreciate that talent. I think everyone wants a guy like Bailey except Dan and Brad. Does this change?
Idk. Iâm just saying that we generate plenty of pressures. Itâs early in the down pressure that weâre starved of.
Yeah, I came into the year thinking he was a freak too (possibly due to the freaks list, honestly). But watching him, at least this year, I didnât see the guy I was promised lol. Or the guy I saw flashes of last year, frankly, so maybe he was playing hurt/heavier or something. Like I said, more of a Rousseau type than a Stewart. But he is a glove fit for what we tend to like in an edge for certain.
Honestly though, our type tends to be available later. Like Gabe Jacas is in that Davenport/Commish/Paschal bucket (especially Paschal), and while heâs not as high on my list as Faulk, heâs damn close. I admit Iâm higher than consensus on Jacas, but he would be substantially cheaper. DDS, Zion Young, Derrick Moore, Anthony Lucas, etc⌠All our types, all cheaper (Iâm not as high on those as I am Jacas, admittedly).
I still donât think weâd go for a Bailey type. If they donât also play the run well and preferably set a strong edge, then yeah, probably not for us.
I certainly think weâd love pressure from our edge rushers, but theyâre gonna have to be more in the Hutch vein than the DPRs like Bailey. But they exist, Crosby, Trey, etc.. And weâve heard Brad tried to sign Hunter as well, he would qualify.
Right. And it doesnât even have to come from the inside. Job is Turner wins early. Jeffrey Simmons wins early.
It comes in different forms, shapes and sizes but regardless it is challenging to find.
I think Jacas could be that sort of threat from the inside. That is of course mostly unproven bc of how Illinois used him.
