Even when he does, they get hurt. Branch, Kerby, Arnold, LaPorta.

We have had some of the worst injury luck in league history of late.

Bumping so we have a general draft thread. A couple of questions for the board:

Who is the most game changing player we could take in this draft?

If we draft Jermod McCoy, how would you tackle the rest of the roster holes in this draft?

Downs is probably the biggest game changer. I love McCoy, but he won’t be as impactful since an offense can just not throw at him. Downs would affect everything.

FA will obviously affect our holes going into the draft too. In fact I expect we’ll have added some level of help everywhere we need it, it just might not be big money help. Like Ryan Bates at C or something.

Prefer Francis by a mile.

And then of course there’s Ponds

He’ll be one of my Brad’s thrift shop entries but I’m sure you figured so much.

Yes. He was one of the bargain guys who first popped into mind to make my point about addressing our needs without spending a ton. You have done your job.

It really sucks how aware every is of his awesomeness now, though perhaps it wouldn’t have mattered come draft day to the real decision-makers anyway.

Matayo Uiagalelei back to school, that’s quite a surprise.

I think this might mean Dante is back as well.

Yep. Feels like ā€œone more runā€ sort of thing. Texas is making things tricky though.

If we go CB in the first round, I’m going to lose it. It would be almost as bad as Millen and his WR’s.

What if he turns out to be the next Revis? Still hate it?

BH will take best player on his board at pick 17 and pick 50, he does not draft need in early rounds. As I have said before, LB would not shock me at 17.i think decker being cut or retiring is the best long term move. TE, S, LB, C, G are all on the table round 4/5. RB/WR in round 6/7.

except when he takes two outside CB’s, after he signed one in FA.

we’ll never really know, will we? only Brad sees how he ranked every player.

of course not, but I don’t have much faith that Brad can pick out the next Revis vs. the next Terrion/Rakestraw. I really hope he critiques himself a little better and considers a trade down rather than a trade up when we need C, OT, safety, TE, backupQB, Edge, Will, and CB….probably in close to that order.

No matter where we go with our picks, there’s a need. That’s not me arguing that we’re not BPA, rather I’m pointing out that no matter the position, there’s no problem whatsoever penciling in a new player on the 53-man roster.

Why is our second round pick at 50 and not 49?

I don’t know how else to describe it other than to use this as an example.

This year, four teams finished with a record of 3-14. Strength of schedule is used as a tiebreaker to determine who gets the #1 pick, and to determine the order of all of those teams relative to each other.

This year, the Raiders had the worst SOS of all of those teams, followed by the Jets, Cardinals, and Titans in that order.

Therefore, the top of the draft is:

  1. Raiders
  2. Jets
  3. Cardinals
  4. Titans

With each passing round, the order of those teams is cycled through due to them all having the same regular season record.

So, the top of the 2nd round will be:

  1. Jets
  2. Cardinals
  3. Titans
  4. Raiders

Top of the 3rd round will be:

  1. Cardinals
  2. Titans
  3. Raiders
  4. Jets

Etc.

This is true for all groups of teams with the same record.

Given that we had the same regular season record as the Vikings, we will alternate with them over each round in the draft.
