Draft talk 2025/2026

Based on a teeny tiny sample size? I wouldn’t make sweeping statements one way or the other about it. He apparently loved Witherspoon too and he’s been great for Seattle.

Which is true far more often than anyone thinks, even when it doesn’t look like it. There’s just so much attrition, so quickly, in the league. I’ve been an advocate for drafting DBs every year for this very reason. OL isn’t far behind it. Those rooms just change so much from year to year.

That’s one of the main reasons I’m an advocate for BPA over need. I really only use the latter in cases of a tiebreaker.

When teams are tied, the 1st round is decided by strength of schedule, then it rotates after that.

So if three teams were tied for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd pick with 3-14 records, the team with the easiest strength of schedule would pick 1st. In the next round, they’d pick 3rd while the other two teams got bumped up one slot. In the round after that they’d pick second and so on through the draft.

If lions dont get a Center during FA period. Pat Coogan looks pretty good. Former ND and current Indiana center

He might be. Shouldn’t cost too much. I worry he’s not a good enough athlete to solve our woes at the second-level, but he’s looked much better at it of late, and against the best competition.

But he’s not the sort of guy you’d draft to start right away. Hopefully, you’d get a chance to develop him.

I figure we need 2 safeties, an IOL and C and a better quality DE. That’s really not insurmountable. one or 2 can be done easily with FAs. Not having 3rd rounders does hurt a bit.

But I have this odd feeling. It’s just one of those ‘back of the head’ feelings.

We’re losing a bit of the chemistry and ‘family’ feeling of the team. Especially the way we’ve handled DMo. I think there’s a large mounting frustration because of coaching especially playcalling.

This offseason is really REALLY important. Can honestly make or break the future of where the Lions are headed under Campbell. Again, just my opinion.

It’s a business in the end, players are always gonna have hurt feelings. People said this back when we let Swaggy go (in fact it was worse, everyone thought he was the heart and soul of the team). Same with Reynolds. It’s just a fact you’re gonna have to let some good guys and good teammates go at some point. I expect we’ll do it with Anzalone as well this offseason. It is what it is :man_shrugging:

But it’s on the coaches to foster that atmosphere you speak about, and I think as long as Dan is here we will. Remember Monty joined to replace Swaggy and that one worked out like gangbusters, we can do it again.

Winning also helps, and I fully expect us to get back to winning next year. Hell we had a winning record THIS year, and were actually really close to winning the division.

I think Safety needs to be higher on the list you have, or, on it period.
Branch not back to end October or Nov is my guess. And at what level?
Joseph, degenerative knee issue, no one knows what he will be next season

It’s a good safety class too

I think it is far too early in the process to make any real predictions because there are so many questions that need answered. I see LOT as the most important position to fill. With Goosby going back to Texas I have Tiernan as the next best LOT but I’m not seeing him mocked where I expect him to go. The next question I have is Tate looked at as our starting C going forward? What are the medical concerns in the secondary and not just the safeties but Rakestraw as well. I would also like a TE that can block but the Lions have shown no concern and just use an extra OT when you want to run the ball. Then what needs can be filled through FA? Just more questions than answers at this point.

Ughh, yep there it was…LOL I need to take a week off

For sure, right now everything is kind of a need to some degree, and will only become lesser or greater needs by draft day.

I fixed the Lions

That would be quite the haul

Think we may need a nickel though. I go back and forth on safety. Tight End also feels like a need now.

Same. I couldn’t find one that fit the way I wanted to in that particular mock. In my version, we addressed it in FA. Lmfao

Man that would be a doozy of a draft

Georgia OT Monroe Freeling surprise declared. He has a long way to go but has all the traits you could want at the spot.

Rumor is Kenyatta Jackson Jr. and Austin Siereveld are both going to return to Ohio State next season.

Jermaine Matthews will also formally announce his return sometime. Rumor is he got a 6th round grade.
