The video gives a decent take. We need to upgrade the position, he would immediately be our #2.
I do mocks, and I just basically come to the conclusion that weāre going to need a safety in FA AND a safety top 100. I absolutely hate saying that, but I canāt get around it. Neither of our All Pro safeties could see much of the field 2026. There is a run D thread, and to me, the run D problems were partly our safeties getting hurt. We got some guys that played well in stints behind them, but I donāt see how they go into the season like this. Its begging for problems. And the thing is we only have two picks in the top 100 which is really costing us now without some moves. Too many holes to fill. Too many question marks. They need volume this draft. So best I can figure they will take a LT and S day 1 and 2. Fill DE and LB using free agency, along with C. Its a tough offseason job. Just hope Brad has some tricks up his sleeve.
The beauty of safety is you can field a very good team while spending cheaply there. I wonāt bore everyone with a list, but in this Super Bowl alone there are a bunch of inexpensive safeties, either through the vet market or draft.
The problem is we had legitimate difference-makers there and THOSE are much harder to find. And frankly I donāt know that we should be trying to find them. Well we should always be trying to find difference-makers, we just donāt need to spend heavily on them.
Thought this was interesting:
I have him just below the super elite Sean Taylor/Eric Berry/Eric Turner (and for me, Roy Williams) tier, but heās near the top of the next one along with Hamilton, Derwin James, Michael Huff, Jamal Adams, Mark Carrier. I wish Iād been a little higher on Polamalu and Ed Reed.
I might starting rooting for a bad combine for Downs. Its the only way he drops to 17ā¦
I donāt expect him to go bonkers, but I donāt expect him to test as poorly as Hamilton or Branch did either.
We should start a rumor that he has Downs syndrome.
At the very least that could be his nickname. Or maybe the nickname for the back 7. Like our version of the Orange Crush or the Steel Curtain.
I agree but I have a Corky sense of humor.
We have to have either a team that will create coverage sacks or one that can pressure with a 4 man front. Pick one.
I laughed way harder at that one then a person should. ![]()

Get him on Theo Von so he can get praised for beating the tism.
And blowing lines off a toilet seat.
How about that 2026! What a start!
senior bowl measurements:
Gabe Jacas (Illinois)
Height: 6ā3 1/8ā³
Weight: 260 pounds
Arm length: 32 3/4ā³
Hand size: 8 3/8ā³ - seriously? he got baby hands
Do we care? Heās an ass kicker. Former wrestler. Heāll be fine. The main thing is that you have to believe in the pass rushing skills. Heās fine as a run defender but itās not like heās JTT where if you get 7 sacks thatās a + NFL player bc the rest of his game is so sound.
I also donāt think he played at 260. Heās shedding weight for the forty.
Honestly, yeah 8 3/8 - that is pretty concerning to me. I donāt want to be all Mike Mamula about measurements but those are smaller mitts than Kenny Pickett and heās an EDGE.
And yeah I thought heād be 270ish.
Found this nugget on McCoyās health:
Whenever injuries are involved, however, you want to always make sure you are doing your due diligence as an evaluator. When talking to a current NFC South area scout about the former Tennessee star, my worry about the McCoy injury was definitely lessened. It appears that the former Vols standout has already gotten the green light.
āThereās a chance he could have played late in the season if they were playing for something,ā that scout said. āHeās been back at full speed for a while now. Thereās very little concern about him right now, and if McCoy is what he was prior to the injury, thatās a future All-Pro corner. Great kid too.āhttps://atozsports.com/nfl-draft/2026-nfl-draft-intel-cornerback-class-jermod-mccoy-colton-hood-mansoor-delane-dangelo-ponds-will-lee-iii/
Thatās what I heard too. You have to wonder what our FO will think of the fact that he could have played, but chose not to. That said I donāt think he makes it anywhere near us.
I do worry that Jacas wonāt throw as many spirals as youād hope.
