Draft talk 2025/2026

Blanket! Blanket! Blanket!

So where is Neal being projected? Another interesting one is Toriano Pride Jr. I did not realize he is the same kid that was at Clemson. He is fast and sticky. He closes on the ball in a heartbeat but he is very feisty and grabby. He does come up in run support but he usually just ducks his head and throws himself at the feet of the ball carrier. He ran a 4.32 along with one of the fastest 10s and his speed certainly shows up on tape. Where is he projected?

Neal’s hard to place, I’ve seen him anywhere from early day 3 to the late 1st round. I suspect he goes day 2 somewhere, guys that size with that sort of fluidity just don’t last.

I’ve only seen Pride go late but I think he’s being underrated a bit. I do think he’s got some awareness issues, he loses track of guys and really falls for head fakes and jukes. It leads to some pretty alarming lowlights to go with his admittedly excellent highlights.

Been a while since I did a mock, but wanted to see what the haul could look like after Monty’s trade. Always hard to do without knowing what FA would bring, but I’d be happy with this haul.

Another guy I would trade up for if he makes it to day 3 is DE Malachi Lawrence. I consider him worthy of a 2nd round pick. I probably like him a lot more than the Lions will because he is not a big slow can crusher. He is 6’4ā€ over 250 and ran a 4.52. He is a good pass rusher with a lot more untapped potential. You also see him making plays sideline to sideline as he looks relentless in his pursuit from the backside. His speed shows up on the field.

I’ve seen the future and it holds deep disappointment for you in late April. Fear not though, it may be an alternate universe.

I like OT and DE in the first 2 picks but I might go with Freeling 1st and Malachi Lawrence in the 2nd. My main objective is fix the O-Line and add some speed on defense. I think some length in our DBs would help. Will Kacmarek or any TE that can block somewhere on day 3.

He actually flashed a little power this past year as well. Not consistently, but you could tell he has some to his frame. That’s why I thought he weighted like 260/265 when I was watching him live. And at that weight, with his clear juice, I thought the process might push him into the 1st. Of course it turns out he’s much lighter, and apparently he was pretty disappointing at the Shrine Bowl. I really wish I could watch the full team practices for the Shrine, rather than the one-on-one highlights.

Yea, I thought he was stout enough to set an edge. Maybe he shed some weight to run faster at the combine. I still have the shrine game on DVR but not the practices. He just looks twitchy enough to be an even better pass rusher than he already is. Kind of reminds me of the Lawrence Dallas drafted and went to the super bowl with Seattle.

Back in October or so I was really excited about him, I’m pretty sure I made @CuriousHusker’s ears bleed hyping him up, but again, that was when I thought he was like 260-265. I thought there was this prototype out there no one was talking about. And he had moves, too, which you almost never see from collegians. Granted he’d been there 5 years so there should be some development, but it was still nice to see.

It turned out he wasn’t quite the prototype I thought he was, but I for sure still like him. I really expected him to show out at the Shrine Bowl - I heard many previews call him their highest-rated prospect there - so the fact that he didn’t gives me some pause. Not the be-all, end-all or anything, but not the check in the ā€˜pros’ column I thought I’d be making. I do wonder if he lost a little too much weight.

You guys were very ahead of me in the process and I could never keep up during the season. Half the guys that I liked went back to school for a 5th, 6th or 7th year. I didn’t start really digging into these guys until the senior bowl or the list of combine invites. I had no idea who was coming or going. I still have about 20 regular season games to watch on DVR.

Oh I know we’re degens, and in my defense @CuriousHusker is worse than me. He knows them all from their recruiting days. I don’t start to really pay any attention until they’re becoming draft eligible except for the unavoidable guys like Jeremiah Smith and Charlie Becker.

Fantasy college football helps keep up with the offensive skill players too.

I have a mystery box problem in general. For instance, even as I’ve come to watch far less MLB, the degree to which I follow prospect lists hasn’t diminished at all.

And because of that, you are an excellent resource for me. Never change please.

As a Cardinal fan I spent all winter researching MLB prospects because Chaim Bloom was cleaning house. He shed 3 overpriced vets all with no trade contracts. Unlike the NFL it is very difficult to project MLB prospects.

Indeed. Especially when you get to the lower minors. Two of the Giants biggest hopes are a Venezuelan 17 year old and a Dominican 18 year old. They’re supposed to be special but so much has to go right for that potential to be realized.

I was hoping Birdsong and Schmitt would be coming to STL for Brendan Donavan. They don’t seem to vlaue Birdsong in their rotation. They signed 2 old scrubs to pitch ahead of him.

Schmitt needs to be at third but the Giants don’t have room. He’s every bit the defender at third that Chapman is. Or in that vicinity. At second the range gets pushed to its limits a bit.

Birdsong’s control comes and goes but the stuff is filthy as hell. I kind of like him as a late innings guy personally.

I thought Schmitt could better than Arenado and about 25 mil cheaper. Great defense is his floor and he could have a platoon battle with Gorman at 3rd. In a rebuild I want a guy like Birdsong getting a chance to show what he can do with 30 starts.

DJ’s latest top 50.

Blake Miller up to #19 and his 2nd OT. Proctor up to 23rd. Lomu up to 24th. Lawrence makes his first appearance to @BubbaBaker60
