Draft talk 2025/2026

I like his evaluation on Lawrence. Almost word for word what I said earlier. I don’t agree with Proctor having good feet. I thought he looked terrible in the kick slide and switch drills. I can buy that he has good feet for his size but not compared to the other OT participants. I also like a lot of the players he took off his list better than a lot of those on it.

I really feel like NFL media is gaslighting me on Proctor.

Every time I read stuff like this I think I must be overlooking something and go back to watch, and almost always end up moving him further down my board. I was really high on him coming into the year but man, the guy I watched is not gonna hold up outside. And yeah, even after losing weight (and since he only checked in at 6’6, I don’t think it’s some big win that he was “only” 352), he looked sluggish laterally in the drills, like you said. Yes, he’s explosive and powerful, which is why I 100% would be turning him into a guard (especially since he’s not as tall as listed).

Do you think Proctor or Fano would be a better guard than Ioane?

I forgot how high DJ is on Omar Cooper

Atleast Colton Pouncy agrees with us

His new article, he went over Proctor a bit and said he thinks he projects as a G or a RT at the next level, and mentions how stiff his feet are

He’s like, 80th on Risdon’s board. There are a lot of people down on him, and I’ve found that most of them paid attention throughout the year. Those who only come back to it once the season’s over and their obligations are through are tending to be much more forgiving. The one exception being Dane, who definitely keeps up all year.

He’s carrying the torch for Cooper this year the way he did for Golden last year.

I prefer Fano overall for sure. Of the other two I probably shade Ioane, but mostly because he’s already familiar with it. I’m a little lower on him than the consensus, and at least with Proctor he could at least fill in at tackle in a pinch.

I guess maybe it makes more sense to take Fano or Proctor over Ioane because we can try them at T and if they fail they could be a superior guard than Ioane? So it makes no sense to draft Ioane? If you see where I am going with this.

Fano also has center upside, which is really what puts him over the top for me. The only way it makes sense to draft Ioane to me is if the plan is to move Ratledge back to center. Otherwise I’m just not interested in a guard only. I more or less feel that way about Proctor too, because as I said I think he’s pretty much guard all the way. He just allows you to help outside in a pinch. A big pinch, the rock and the hard place kind. He’d also work as a 3rd tackle on run downs if necessary, whereas Ioane won’t.

Why do you like it then?

I think Proctor coming in at 352 helps him more than it probably should.

With trades because why not? It’s what Brad does to get his guys.

Because he agrees with me although it looks like it will cost a 2nd to get him. I do value DJs opinion much more than any of the other media.

It absolutely did, and actually made me pay more attention. (I also liked that he was a little smaller overall as I have an aversion to the real behemoths, plus it should make the transition to the interior easier).

But then he did the drills and just looked so slow-footed. No change of direction, no fluidity. Just a very stiff athlete, even at that weight.

Thieneman intrigues me, he could very well be the pick at 17 if he’s there, although I think there’s more value in the mid rounds for a safety. Clemson’s TJ Parker or Blake Miller make sense… Mesidor makes a ton of sense along with Faulk. Lots of options at 17 and a few of them will be there.

If they do plan on moving Tate to Center, Loane is an option as well, let Mahogany/Frazier battle for the RG spot

I consider Freeling a pipe dream at this point.

Mesidor’s the only one I disagree with. His game’s too finesse for our FO imo (and of course there’s the fact he turns 25 before the draft). It’s one of the concerns I have with Fano… does he have the power in his frame for us?

I really like Thieneman, but not in the slot. For all of that athleticism he showed, I don’t think he has the short area juice close to the line, either to hold up against slot WRs or avoid blockers. I definitely want him lined up deeper and playing the ball in front of him.

The age thing bothers me… But his motor and versatility scream Lions IMO

The motor does, but I don’t actually think he’s all that versatile. You can line him up inside on rushing downs and he can beat an iDL with his (excellent) juice, but he doesn’t have the strength to survive in there long-term. He’s also really overly reliant on inside moves and most coaches aren’t just gonna let him attack that way and leave the outside open.

But I’m not sure I saw a single bull rush on his tape. He simply can’t covert speed to power, and I can’t remember who said it, but one of those stat guys charted pass rushes, and he employed power elements less than any other edge in the class. By a lot. Once I saw that I went back to the tape, and yeah, it was noticeable.

He’s a mad man out there and gives it his everything for sure, but given the way our coaches and FO operate, I’d be really, really surprised if he’s very high on our board.
