Draft talk 2025/2026

That’s wild. I think he’ll have the Brian Branch experience.

He might have a Brian branch stuff, but i wont lie this is interesting.

I don’t think it really means much. There have been quite a few guys recently last until the 2nd. I think they’ve got 16 spots to fill and some guys just want the “experience” so bad they’re willing to risk it. Colton Hood probably shouldn’t be there either.

Prolly not, only thing is if someone wants the QB on a 5th year option

There have been a lot of pieces recently about just how useless the 5th year option is for QBs specifically and how teams are purposely avoiding it if they can. Either you already know he’s the guy and have re-signed him or you don’t in which case you should always let him go. The only caveat is if the plan is to sit him for a while like Love. The Giants traded back up into the first last year for Dart, but it wasn’t for the 5th year option, it’s because they were trying to stop NO from doing it. Once they moved NO waiting until the 2nd for the other guy.

I think Max is much further along than either Manu or Mailata were when they entered the league. I think a year in the room with good NFL coaching so he understands what defenses are trying to do will help him a lot. I’d also like to see him sustain his blocks longer in the run game. He has other little things he can clean up like hand placement to avoid holding calls. I don’t think any of these things make him unplayable. I can also see him make the eventual move to LT. My initial thought with him was to play a year behind Decker. I think he would be an ideal fit in Philly as a replacement for Lane Johnson. Although they might be in the same boat as us now because they lost their O-Line guru.

Oh I didn’t mean to imply he wasn’t, he for sure is. I mean, Mailata had never played, obviously he wouldn’t be further along. I was only trying to say that they were a low bar. He can be further along than them and still have a long way to go.

Again, he’s 29th on my board. Obviously I like him. Basically, I just can’t justify him over Miller. That’s what this really boils down to. I think Miller’s ceiling is almost as high (you don’t, fair enough), I think his floor is MUCH higher, he didn’t skip his bowl game like Max did and is much more likely to be our FO’s type anyway. Maybe we’re too strict about that, I’m just going by what we’ve done so far.

I would give both players a late 1st or early 2nd round grade. I think in this draft it would bump both players up a notch. Had we not signed Borom I would lean toward Miller. My money would be on Miller having a better 1st year and Max having a better career. If I didn’t think Max would be ready to go by year 2 I would not draft him. I would also not be surprised to see him as a starter on day 1 for another team and being a good player by the end of year 1.

I wouldn’t be shocked either, again, I like him. But I would bet on Miller before I bet on Max, you’re the reverse, so be it :man_shrugging: You could very well be right, but I’ll bet on the guy who already has the intuitive gift for picking up defensive chicanery, moving in space, timing releases, etc… that stuff really matters imo. Not saying Max can’t get there, in fact I suspect he can, but I’d put less of a percentage on it.

On the Beast thread what 2 guys would you take in the 4th round?

I guess the spin of the wheel would be for Max. Miller would be to keep the cash you have and solve the puzzle. If I know there are 4 more Rs in that puzzle I’m going to spin.

I just saw Mauigoa has a back injury. He will undergo more imaging tests. Here we go Brad the next Levi falls right to us.

I would LOVE it if we could get him. I think he might be my #1 option for us, him or Bain. Also that check was today and word is he passed it with flying colors, so I doubt it causes him to fall much.

The 2 players I like for us are McCoy and Banks. I could be okay with Ioane or Freeling.

I love McCoy but I don’t think our FO will go for him.

A ton of Proctor Lions smoke. If he is in fact the pick I really hope the Lions get on the phone with Alim.

“Alim, we need you to mentor Kadyn on doing what you did to your body and fitness level AFTER your rookie year. But we need it now. Bc we need him to be his best NOW for our team to reach our goals. We pay you what we do not just bc you are a great player but bc you are also a great leader. Will you mentor him?”

Which position group do you think the Lions will focus on early – offensive line or defensive line?

Defensive line. When free agency opened, the Lions were aggressive in revamping the offensive line by adding Panthers center Cade Mays, ex-Dolphins lineman Larry Borom and veteran guard Ben Bartch. So, it wouldn’t be surprising for Detroit to try to strengthen its defensive line early in the draft, particularly with a young, promising player to pair with Pro Bowler Aidan Hutchinson. That is a top priority after losing Al-Quadin Muhammad to the Buccaneers following his breakout 2025 season. – Eric Woodyard

What we’re hearing about the Lions’ draft: The release of Taylor Decker prompted many to assume Detroit would go offensive tackle in Round 1, but like Eric, I’ve heard the Lions are equally high on filling their edge rusher need. With only two picks in the top 117, the Lions should be expected to go tackle and edge rusher with those selections. – Miller

Who are you predicting to still be sitting there in round 2?

If Dan Campbell never gave that Kneecaps presser, would pundits still be shoehorning Proctor to us?
