Not a surprise
I mean, or you could draft/do FA well so you don’t need to trade for a backup RB.
Are we sure that he doesn’t suck? Any time I watched him in college it felt like Auburn had put Ray Charles back at Tailback.
Eagles have made 5 trades since August 17 and also signed Z Smith. Howie Roseman is the best GM in the league and is always looking to improve.
They like him for kick returns. He shouldn’t provide much value at RB.
We’re good.
Can Tank rush the passer?
They did it for KR, which they saw a problem with in game 1 and wanted to address immediately.

He only has 11 career kickoff returns, and his average per return is right in line with the league mean. I don’t think he’s great shakes as a returner. I personally think this is an admission that AJ Dillon was a bad move, and Will Shipley is hurt. Kudos for moving on (one of Howie’s best traits), but it doesn’t move the needle for me either way. Howie also had 13 2026 draft picks. That’s a lot more ammo to trade for guys, which frankly he’d be foolish not to use.
Howie’s a great GM, clearly one of the league’s best. But I don’t think it’s these piddly trades that make that true. It’s his drafting, FA work, and big ticket trades (AJ Brown). The vast majority of his smaller moves don’t pan out, just like they don’t for most GMs. Those guys are cheap for a reason.
I also think he’s the personification of the “do something” meme, and since that’s what every fan wants, people love him for it.
The biggest glaring hole that roster is cornerback
Agreed, but that’s a harder position to deal with mid season.
Ah. Okay. They had more 2026 picks then they could possibly deal with so whatever.
Do they not prioritize vision in RBs like other teams bc of how coming their OL is. Swift, Tank, heck even Barkley’s vision is kind of meh IMO.
I honestly think Howie throws a lot at the wall to see what sticks, especially if he’s doing it for cheap. He’s very good at hoarding picks so it’s hard to fault his approach. But Penny had pretty good vision, but his health was shot.
Howie treats roster management the way I treat communication.
Trust me the Eagles staff in front office of read the same stuff that we have showing that every single season we’re a running back has gotten the amount of touches that Barkley did last year the next season they are nowhere near that level of production let alone half of them aren’t even healthy. This is a nice depth grab for guy who had success last year and amazingly probably would have success with Philadelphia because I just plugged dudes in all over the place last couple years and they play well
They definitely try to find help at RB with guys that fell out of favor elsewhere… though a few of these guys were Chip Kelly era.
