Davis has been awesome and completely deserves all the hype, but as for their futures as pros, give me Jalen Carter. That guy has superstar written all over him.
But he’s not draft eligible yet, right?
So I’ve played a little bit with a realistic trade down scenario for next year’s draft. Basically we trade down a couple spots and get a 2nd and 3rd in this years draft.
The other thing too is I wouldn’t be surprised if we took the Miami/BUF approach to the rebuild where we take future picks for trade downs too. The key is to have a player worth trading up for…Thibs would definitely be a guy but a QB would be better.
The thing is we just have to get through this ugly year. It sucks. But were going to have 3 picks in the top 35 at least (more with trade downs) and 5 in top 100. This team is going to get an influx of talent next year. We just have to hope Holmes knows what he is doing. I actually like our draft from last year once I get over the Justin Fields part. I do question him on Slater, but his later rounders are contributing.
To get from the early 2nd round into the mid-20s of the 1st round would cost roughly a 3rd round pick. So if we move down slightly at the top of the 1st round and get a 3rd, that could pay the price of admission to get back into the 1st round.
Just did one on PFN where we trade out of the 1OA with the Texans, slide to 4, take CB Stingley Jr., then at 31 take QB Carson Strong.
WR Justyn Ross being one of the high second-rounders.
That’ll work.
At this point I think I’d rather have Pickens than Ross amongst the injured receivers. A torn acl is much easier to come back from that Ross’s spinal fusion situation. Or at least it’s a lot less risky. I know Pickens is much further down the board (especially at PFN), but if he declares I expect him to rise quite a bit as he returns to health.
Cool draft, but 33, 65 and 98 aren’t going to be there.

I can’t ever do a mock past like the 4th/5th round. Because after the 4th round I rarely know the guys I’m looking at picking.
Historically you’d be better trading away those picks for existing NFL players or to move up in the other rounds. So I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
Brandon Smith at 65? Zero chance of that happening unless he gets injured.
I really miss that strategy. Mayhew really turned us around quickly by (in part) utilizing it.
Word. I LOVED that. Julian Peterman for Cory Redding and 5th. LoJack for a sixth. Chris Houston for a sixth. All solid moves.
I was thinking of Houston, Sims and Williams.
1A Jordan Davis Bull in China Shop, Georgia
1B. George Pickens dynamic go to X WR, Georgia
2nd. Brandon Smith speedy off ball LB with coverage ability and size, Penn State
3rd. Tanner McKee tall developmental QB, Stanford
3rd Kyler Gordon athletic, but needs coached up CB, Washington
*simulated draft on Draft Network
Only went four (three really) rounds. This was a little “best player available” I don’t like that I didn’t get a safety and that I took a CB so low. At some point you just hope Holmes can find some diamonds-in-the-rough like he did (IMO) with Iggy and Barnes. I suppose an easy argument is that Jordan Davis is not BPA, but I really like him.
Jordan Davis in the top five?
