Former Bucs player rips Carlton Davis

Well then why are you complaining, as the tape and discussions showed how well they played in the scheme they were brought here for.

Nobody is complaining.

I’ve mentioned numerous times Brad is the smartest man in the room.

I just hope he doesn’t stop there with our CB room

Since it’s “NOT A NEED anymore.”

You confirmed my one and only point. Thank you.

I’m on that post…

and I was all about Carlton Davis as he approached UFA.

I didn’t see as much of him in 2023…

but all accounts say he was stuck with too much zone coverage.

Dude was a rising star when they played more man coverage.

Depth in the secondary is clearly a major issue. I would imagine that Brad feels that way too and will address it.

I do think Amik and David are a major step forward as starters.

Who said it isn’t aneed?

Just keep in mind the help the CB will have with a DL we have now. Less time they have to cover - hurried throws & deflections. Going to be fun. Makes a good back… better. I’m hoping their better at cover which ='s sacks!

Welcome!

I agree CB could come in any Rd you may see it twice even. But as far as Davis is concerned I have none, he is a stud.

Brad doesn’t think we are fine now.

Welcome!

I can see Brad trading UP to get a CB like he did with Jameson at WR.

It shouldn’t give anyone pause, this is just a guy with a name and a job to get clicks now, and he’s doing his job. Of course Davis had some bad plays last year, otherwise he would still be on the Buccaneers roster. As far as the analysis goes, it’s about as detailed as any of the posters here could do, probably less.

Let me put it another way, if Scott Conover decided to do a targeted smear piece on the play of Jerry Jacobs, what’s your reaction? It’s a nothing burger :hamburger:

Davis is a lockdown Man coverage CB, who had a down year due to TB playing more zone.
We play more “Man”.
Come on draft! We’re not going to have a team if this goes on much longer. Near as I can figure, Sewell and Hutch are the only players that don’t suck in some clicks opinion.

Davis yes-excited before, during, after, & into the future. Amik Roberson is wait and see for me all day long

That’s not Deion Sanders. He’s playing for Aaron Glenn now, who is not the best guy with the X’s and Os so he better be prepared for a new challenge. I’m in wait and see mode.

My opinion :

There isn’t as wide a divide between “good” CB’s and “bad” CB’s as most people think.

Teams are going to throw the ball now … passing stats are at all time highs. Basically the key is preventing TD’s … not necessarily shutting everything down 24/7.

Pass rush is a major contributor to CB performance. This gets underestimated.

Look at Okudah - great stats at OSU, because the big ten offenses sucked that year, and he had the best pass rush in the country in front of him.

Davis will be fine, as long as we are getting pressure on the QB, and our DC has a game plan.

That was six years ago. He’s been a professional football for those six years.

And he probably hasn’t gotten any more athletic. Tampa plays a great team defense, we have guys that are on their own, sometimes they even play out of position.

Davis needs to have a bounceback season which is certainly feasible because he’ll be playing more man coverage here but the constant injuries are a big concern.
Amik is relatively unproven and, as I’ve stated in the past, his height is a concern for me.

Those two clearly have a higher ceiling than the departed starting two but there’s also lots of questions marks. Depth is also a big problem at corner and safety but there’s still a draft to address that.
