I didn’t see the sack he gave up to Ossai live. In that situation he needs to take the loss and hold him. You can’t let someone get a free run to Goff’s blindside. Ossai blasted Goff and could have injured him. A terrible rep from start to finish.
Blindside tackle is the last position I want learning on the job. Seems like we have no other choice. But if a Manu mishap leads to a Goff injury, Manu will be ran out of town.
Agree, the Lions need to pull out all the stops to prevent a redux of Julius Peppers laying waste to Jeff Sackus and driving Stafford’s shoulder into the ground, which effectively ended his 1990 season.
Just hand it off to Barry.
The question is what is the average +/- of a tackle in the NFL.
I get that the Lions Oline play is elite. But where do other teams tackles grade out.
And I am not suggesting Manu was acceptable. But you take the play where he almost got Goff decapitated out and I would not be too concerned about another game so Decker can rest

Stafford was about 3 years old in 1990, so he shouldn’t have been put into a position to start that game anyway. Granted, he was still a better option than Andre Ware.
It’s definitely not acceptable. He has to learn from it. Hank, Taylor, Penei, and the rest of the room will get him coached up.
Not many LT’s play a good first game. Considering his first NFL start was against Hendrickson, he had a decent start.
Trey will make vets look stupid on the regular. There is no saying that it wouldn’t have happened to Taylor.
The armchair coaches need to chill and give the kid a chance to grow, because, he will grow.
Damn some are really hard on this guy for his first start, I mean what if we have gave up on Tater after his first start , witch was also pretty bad by the way. But no called for his head. And he got better. This isn’t Madden
You weren’t paying attention. A great many were calling him a bust and were ready to string Brad up.
I blame fantasy football.
Some have been hard on him since the day he was drafted.
Some made hundreds of posts about how dumb Holmes was for drafting him before the guy even made a start.
Some can’t wait to pound their chest, and want the “I told you so moment” at the first sign of trouble.
Some make themselves look very childish.
- Ball has to come out quicker than if Decker was there.
- Sewell plays LT and some other dudes plays RT
- Goff throws left handed so he can see the sack coming.
- Run the football more.
One of those is fake
And how do they feel now ?

I agree and find it odd. It would be such a boon for this franchise if we found our LT of the future. Why not just root like hell for that outcome?
I will just say nothing is for certain. What if he just played the game of his life? The naysayers are just as realistic as the, he will be good / great crowd. None of us knows. Certainly he needs more time to understand what we have / don’t have.
Damm this is a new side of you, your always positive. This might be the most negative post I’ve seen from you. Lol
Why in the world would you think his first start could be the game of his life ? The Kid was so reved up, just listen to what he said about starting before the game. The dude put pressure on him self before the first snap. I have no doubt that he will improve on that and I’m not always so positive. Lol

I find Manu very intriguing. He’s a physical specimen to be sure and if he turns into a legit LT we will all be ecstatic. I was merely trying to point out, perhaps poorly, that there seems to be 2 extreme ends on the capabilities of Manu. When I started the other thread I didn’t mean it to come off as I hate the kid or thought it was a wasted draft pick, only that I thought he had a poor game. Really moreso one horrendous play. I still have hope for him no matter how clumsily my earlier posts may seem. Manu is a great story and I truly hope he works out. He’s still a work in progress and I was just trying to state that none of us knows what his future holds.
I saw three terrible plays in real time. I haven’t rewatched though and I wasn’t focusing on him.
