Goodbye, Jonah Jackson

Nick is awesome. Seems like a good guy as well.

I think Jonah is better than 90% of you but even I think this is a wild ass overpay.

I’m fine with the contract, and also fine losing him. I always thought GG was the bigger priority. They need to add some competition to the OL but this was always the expectation all along.

If he had been healthier or ~$5mm less a year I think the Lions try and keep him.

Good signing for the Rams assuming he stays healthy.

I’ve always been left wanting more with Jonah. I personally would not have offered above 10mil AAV. He has struggled a bit with injuries, and he has never really taken the next step I expected.

Rams know they have to get better for when they face us in the playoffs again.
But when we pair somebody opposite Hutch, Jackson isn’t going to help them there.
Brad has to have a plan.

Who’s the 10% he isn’t better than…

@Jman @BigNatty @stephenboyd57 who else?

Jonah’s grandma

No one would ā– ā– ā– ā–  with that Oline…

For an OG who can’t stay healthy and has a PFF score under 60.

They have Dodson and Avila. I wonder if they’re planning on moving him to center?

Think Avila will move over. He was good there in college.

That’s smart by the rams. That should be a very good offensive line for them.

I am a bit surprised at the reactions in this thread.

Jonah has missed 6 games in 4 years. Very few IOL go a full season. You all act like he’s a serious injury risk when truth be told he’s been about average for an IOL in terms of injury.

He’s made a probowl once in those 4 years. There’s several OG’s making north of 20 mil a year and a bunch north of 16mil a year. 17 mil a year isn’t a shocker.

Keep in mind the Lions signed big V to a 5 year deal that averaged 9 mil a year and the cap has drastically went up since then. 15+ mil is currently the going rate for a quality OG.

I was expecting it to take 15+ to sign him so this isn’t a shocker to me at all.

The Lions need IOL depth and now they need a starter and a quality backup.

Hopefully the Lions can find a quality replacement but I do not think it will be an easy task. Good IOL are coveted.

I’m not sure if I could ever be better than him in football, but I could whip his ass in a handsome competition!

He’s missed 9 games in the last 2 years (17 game seasons).

He’s missed 10 the last 2 years… and couldn’t finish 3 other games.

While I agree it isn’t easy, I trust Hank Fraley. He’s definitely been preparing for this.

Plus a playoff game.

Or maybe 2?.. did he play at SF or against the Rams?
