Mike Hart should be the next HC for Michigan and I think he will do very well. He will win B1G titles, he will win Bowl games…He will win in the playoffs. I think there are a lot of similarities to Hart and my guy Marcus Freeman.

He will just give you something else to whine about that University
Yes. Thats it. Kindly, oh nevermind. As you are whining about me.
No not really…In fact not at all. I’m just tryna encourage the Wolverine Fa base in case they in fact do lose Harbaugh. I think Hart is gonna be a helluva HC at the collegiate level. Michigan would be wise to make him their HC if Harbaugh does leave.
Jimmy isnt going no where, and if he cant win it all, why the f would Hart?
Wow is that a real question?? I mean what do you know about Hart that says he can’t win?? What I do know of Hart is that he has done a helluva job with that RB group and he is a helluva recruiter. It’s why Western wanted him.
The Rb group. Oh no. Listen edwards was 5 star, and uofm has a top oline. Maybe oline coach should be the next coach. Pat Narduzi Pittsburgh head coach had top defense at msu and cant win it all. I think jh is top 5 coach in college football, so if think hart is so great why is no one knocking on his door besides a mac team to be next head coach?
If Harbaugh were to leave, and the job were given to one of his assistants, that person would be Sherrone Moore. It wouldn’t be Mike Hart.
I will tell you guys the same thing I told my rival Michigan fans in 2007. When my Michigan guys were all up in arms about Les Miles replacing Lloyd Carr I said to them “Michigan would be wise to hire Jim Harbaugh”. They thought I was crazy and this was in 2007. I’m telling you now…if Harbaugh leaves the guy Michigan should want to take over is Mike Hart. You ain’t gotta listen to me, but I’m telling you Michigan fans now as I did to my boys back in 2007…Mike Hart is your guy if you want to maintain what it is that you have had going in the Big Ten the last two years
Jim Harbaugh wasn’t ready to coach Michigan in 2007. He hadn’t become who he is yet. It’s like saying Bill Belichick should have been hired as a head coach in 1977.
No one is trashing Mike Hart. Michigan fans love Mike Hart, but he hasn’t had that type of responsibility yet. He has to grow into it. The idea he’d just jump into a role he’s never held before, and exceed the record of Harbaugh, is a bit much for some of us to accept as realistic no matter how fond we are of Mike Hart.
I actually thought he was ready…even back then. He took over Stanford in 2007 and was 4-8…but is that any different than Rich Rod?? I thought Harbaugh should’ve been the guy because he is an alum, he knows, Michigan, he knows the Big Ten and he knows the importance if the Ohio State rivalry. Michigan would have won a Natty by now had Harbaugh taken over in 2007.
Saying Harbaugh wasn’t ready in 2007 is not the same thing as saying Rich Rodriguez was the correct hire. That entire coaching search was botched from the start.
Dan I respect you…you are what I consider a “Voice of reason” around here…but I disagree on this one. With what Harbaugh would have taken over at UM in 2007 vs Stanford and compared to Rich Rod, I think Harbaugh would have had this team winning Big Ten titles, he would have beaten Jim Tressel, he was ready in 2007. Michigan just didn’t want him at that time and that was a miss on them. Michigan fans were all stuck on how “Harbaugh criticized the program” so they didn’t even recognize how good of a coach he was. That is the rebuttal that I got. I literally had to remind my Michigan friends that I am NOTRE DAME…I am not rooting for Michigan to get better or to do what is best, in fact, I loved the Rich Rod era…but mark my words…Mike Hart is your guy
Ok, that is fine, however, wasn’t my point in responding to your post.
Day doesn’t have a great or even good track record against top five or top ten teams.
If you want to say Harbaugh isn’t good there as well, great, I agree with you wholeheartedly.
However, not sure why he was brought up in my response to Day being an issue to winning the title next year.
I would be surprised if he goes there.
Bronco’s traded several high picks for Wilson who isn’t looking like the Wilson of old so from a draft capital standpoint they are not in a good position.
Wilson’s cap hit could be an issue for them moving forward and supposedly they signed him to the extension due to ownership not at the desire of the GM.
Colt’s maybe but I think it ends up another SF situation where his “quirkiness” leads to issues with Irsay’s meddling.
We can all agree that Rich Rod was a terrible hire. From a pure football standpoint it never made sense. And that is before all of the other garbage that went along with it. At the core of the mistake on the football side was throwing away a storied tradition at the QB position right as it reached its pinnacle. UM had the strongest case to be made to every traditional drop back QB that THEY were the best bet to get to the NFL. Noone else could rival how many QBs UM put into the NFL over the last 15+ years. And the mic drop on top of that already strong history was Tom Brady setting the league on fire at the same time. Frickin recruiting GOLD!
I don’t think you can simply copy & paste Harbaugh’s success so far and give it X more years to build up steam. I think its more complicated than that. Harbaugh is able to recruit kids now that I don’t think would sign with Michigan if he wasn’t the guy that coached Andrew Luck or led an NFL team to a Super Bowl. Those are a big part of what draws some kids to UM, which also includes some of the connections Harbaugh made along the way. If he skips straight to UM he wouldn’t have that pedigree or some of those connections. Throwing a random name out there, I don’t think Rashan Gary chooses Michigan if Harbaugh took an alternate path.
That being said I would love to see what the alternate path would look like because its not all bad. If Harbaugh goes directly to UM it means that Ryan Mallet stays at Michigan. And now you have a former Michigan QB coaching a future star at the position while Tom Brady is tearing up the NFL and the tradition of NFL level QB play at Michigan continues and grows. Instead of walking in and having to start Jake Rudock, maybe he lands Josh Rosen. Heck, maybe he gets Chad Kelly and the kid has an entirely different life path after that.
Colts have the most talent, but least stable ownership. Need help to contend, but should be a playoff team w QB and good coach.
Broncos have cap and draft issues, but next most talent and ownership willing to spend and be relatively hands off. Could be coached back to playoffs but Russ is a limiting factor
Carolina a good cap situation, but needs to grab a vet QB and/or groom a draft pick plus add a decent amount of talent. Ownership not an issue. 1-2 more years of rebuild.
Houston is talent starved and ownership stupid. Will suck for 2+ more years.
Arizona is a mystery. It could bounce back or completely collapse. Kyler’s questions were not answered this year…not the best landing spot, but not the worst.
I doubt Washington comes open, but not impossible. Same for Rams, who I think Harbaugh would love. Tampa isn’t locked into Bowles either…but they may collapse soon.
If I’m Jimbo, I decide if I can handle Irsay’s nonsense. If no, Carolina. You get to start over at QB in either spot, which you need if its going to be “your program”
He would know Irsay already.
Irsay has shifted down the Wackadoodle by Batman Villain Comparison spectrum since their last meeting from 1960s TV Show Riddler crazy to Michael Keaton Batman Joker crazy.
He may wanna take a minute to look to see if he is getting close to Heath Ledger…
