If that’s what you take from that then so be it. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.

What gets me is the whole discussion, THEN the flag.

Typically it’s flag then discussion and not the other way around….so does that mean that going forward they can chat and throw a flag for a false start?

Some penalties must be called when happened…otherwise, sorry but you benefit from our error!

I’m not a ref apologist. They make mistakes. I don’t think any team plays a clean enough game where you go an entire game without a penalty. You can literally call a hold on any play in the NFL. But I’m not going to sit and explain every call or non-call.

It is what it is. I don’t think the NFL is scripted or rigged or anything like that. If I did, I wouldn’t watch it. And anyone who does think it is and still watches it anyways I think is kind of silly. :man_shrugging: Wrestling died to me as a kid when I found out the results were scripted. The NFL would suffer the same fate for me if I thought it was unfair.

I would love to hear you out, if that’s off base.

Coach said the official told him it was reviewed and passed along the orders. I feel like you have to think that’s a lie, if you believe the NFL’s story.
I definitely disagree with ya, and that’s cool. Who really cares?
That said, if I’m off base on something, I would definitely take the time to hear your angle.

Do you know where he said it? Not that I don’t believe you, I’d just like to hear the language used when described. This is the weird sticking point for me. I wholly believe that Dan believes he was told it came from NY - he’s always a straight shooter. I just don’t understand why we have conflicting stories and I don’t think that it’s the NFL covering something up, which is obviously what a bunch of people are kinda inferring.

No, it’s not something that is discussion worthy to me. I saw the refs get together after the play. One refs job was to watch the QB. Another’s was to watch the QB if he went anywhere which he did. They were able to confer after a TD score, celebration, etc. They decided what they decided.

I don’t think there’s an argument either way because it’s a strawman’s take from both sides. Some will see it one way, some will see it the other.

So no, I don’t think there’s a definitive argument either way. It simply is what it is in your eyes, and is what it is in mine.

As you said, who really cares right?

The official word is the play was NOT reviewed; the refs got together and discussed the play to make sure they made the right call (or no call). This is something that happens regularly; we see refs huddle up quite often and either change a call or keep the call that was originally made. Sometime they don’t even make a call until they talk. With that said, I absolutely believe the league could and would ping the refs and “remind” them of a rule if it suited them. Just once, I’d like to see KC lose a game on controversial calls, because it seems like they always go one way. Similarly, I can think of at least a half dozen obviously wrong or controversial calls that have cost the Lions wins over the years. I remember very few where the Lions won on an obviously wrong call.

But when was the last time you remember a pre-snap penalty called over a minute after a scoring play.

The scoring play itself would have taken about all of 3 seconds to review, as it was extremely obvious….so hard to believe that something wasn’t mentioned from above. And then they took a minute to discuss it.

You want to get some kicks? Google, “Chris Jones lined up offsides”.

Every team they’ve played is represented in pictures. Including us, yesterday.

That guy can’t do his job without CHEATING, and, the NFL knows it!

I tend not to be an NFL conspiracy guy but some weird stuff happens sometimes where I spend a minute or two thinking about it

I’m pretty sure it was in the post game presser, but to be honest, I’m not 100% sure if I read it or watched it. I absolutely trusted the source though.

I don’t think it’s full on rigged… But games are definitely manipulated by refs. Way way too much money on the line not to be.

My reply was brought to you by Fanduel!

Agree

i just made a conspiracy theory thread. Just saying…. It’s not full on rigged, but it’s heavily influenced-

first TD scored by Goff (run or rec) was +9000 on draft kings.

My gut says the ratings of the Bears and Commanders rivaled the WS tonight. Suddenly Caleb has a 3 game win streak. Daniel’s still looked good… but why?

The nfl keeps almost everything interesting. Sometimes you get a Browns vs Titans and nobody cares.

The Falcons winning over Joshy makes the Drake Maye led patriots more interesting, and when we clock TB next week suddenly they have a 3 way race in the NFC South- about 45 minutes ago it was a runaway for TB- but when we win next week it will be a tie with Atlanta who plays a crippled 49ers team

At worst the lions should of had offsetting penalties due to 95 jones lining up in the neutral zone

I also don’t get the delay of game. Officials should not start the clock until all parties are satisfied they understand the call correctly. The entire process just smells bad.
