How important is a CROSBY or other DE for us?

I say NO to a kings ransom for Crosby. I saw in another thread it’ll be 2025 1st and 2 in 2026.

Those are bullets out of our GM’s shooter! And the man can shoot!

So let our boys play, we’ll be okay!!!

Not if we can’t get better pressure than we did against TN’s backup OL

I mean that is not excessive IMO.

We can debate if someone would be willing to give up that much. But realize for the Lions it will be closer to a 2 and 3 based on drafting position.

You are getting a proven top 5 DE. That is for sure worth at least a 1 LOL

As far as important, having a pass rush that can get pressure with just 4 is huge.

Maxx Crosby is an every down player, who is incredibly durable. He is a top 5 player at the a premier position. If the Lions have to give up 2 firsts which are late picks then you do it without hesitation. Want to put this team over the top? Go get Crosby. I’m not sure the Raiders will trade him though.

If the Lions could get 3+(he’d likely finish career here) for a 1 and a 26 2 I’d be a) sick with excitement, b) incredibly surprised that even the Raiders could be this dumb, c) would have to call my doctor for prolonged erection

If it would only cost what you are reading then Holmes would have jumped on that already!

That’s nothing for a player of his caliber when you are talking about late round picks!q

I hate the stance that a late pick in any round (especially the 1st and 2nd) are basically the following rounds picks. One of the reasons elite teams stay elite after picking late year after year is they get some really damn good players that should’ve gone top 15. But for whatever reason slipped to the end of the 1st/2nd rounds. A late 1st round pick isn’t as valuable as an early one, but it’s a lot more valuable than a 2nd…and so on…

If we don’t pick in the 1st round in the next two drafts, we don’t pick until about 60th. You do that a couple years in a row, and it’s a big deal. How often do trades for superstars actually work out anyway?

Giving up your premium draft picks for players also involves some serious money. We won’t have anything higher than “late” 1st/2nd round picks. I would rather keep those in the hands of one of the best drafters in the league.

Also, we already have several players that are among the highest paid at their position (Goff, ARSB, Penei, Rags, McNeill). With a bunch more coming soon (Hutch, Both safeties, Gibbs, LaPorta, Jamo). I would rather hang on to as many of our former “draft picks” than go out and land another top 5 paid at their position guys. By the beginning of 2026, we are going to have more high priced talent than anyone in the NFL.

Let’s keep the band together and stay the course that made us the best team in the NFL.

Ok first breath brother

Second of course a last pick in the first round is a good pick because you also get different contract terms.

I am just saying that to get a for sure top shelf DE you should not complain about a 1st round cost. And for that matter a 1 and a 2 is not unreasonable.

Now we can get into the bonus value of when they become dominating and also are on a rookie contract

OMG! Why the urgency? To mortgage the future. and woah is me, we must take drastic measures, or we’ll never get up that hill.

Fricking cry babies. We’ll be fine.

Breath? I’m calm no worries…

It’s just a silly stance that many like to suggest. You don’t think the raiders are also taking into account that the Lions 1st rounder isn’t as valuable as say the Bears?

A Crosby trade, if traded to Detroit, is going to be more than a 1st and a 2nd. As you said…those are basically the following round picks, right?

It’s a complete contradiction just on the take alone, not even mentioning the details. So we should give up the picks because they are at the back end up rounds anyway. But the Raiders don’t care where the picks land?

Multiple 1sts starts the convo with the raiders, not less. And with that kind of price tag, we are gonna hang up the phone.
