Not every damn play is going to be perfect. He doesn’t just need perfect, he needs better than perfect. He needs perfect +1. The OLine isn’t that terrible with pass protection. They were decent last week. He’s got to step up and BE A GOOD QB! If every QB just threw it to over open guys then whats the need for a good QB? Goff surgical? Tom Brady was surgical as the greatest statue of all-time. Stafford has defensive players dizzy. Thread the needle. Take risks. Manipulate the defense. Put it on the money!
Completely false. The lions oline is absolutely awful in pass pro. 3rd in qb hits allowed. 4th in pressures allowed, 8th in pressure % allowed with a 23.7 the league average is 20.8 and tied 2nd lowest in pocket time with a 2.1. Nothing about those numbers are good…they’re awful. Yet he’s top 10 and top 5 in multiple passing categories leading another top 5 offense behind a trash oline. So this false narrative that he needs perfection to be good is not based on reality. It’s based on bias and the numbers clearly show it.

Only 3 qbs have the 2.2 league average while 20+ have more than the average. Either way you slice it lions oline is awful in pass pro. That’s not opinion that’s fact.

The ironic part is Justin Fields and JJ McCarthy have the highest pocket time at 2.6 seconds
Just goes to show just because you have time it doesn’t mean anything if your qb is awful.

It’s because it’s a completely flawed stat like most of these bs pressure srats. Fields and McCarthy hold onto the ball too long. Vikes in no way shape or form have a top oline.
That’s why the NFL doesn’t keep these kind of stats and you have to go elsewhere, because the stats are trash.

Mary go round at OC and unhealthy OL and couple skill guys, makes for a tough go. Talent to lead in just about every statistical category offensively is on the roster, but too many sidelined at the moment. In a perfect storm Goff is great. Need to get guys healthy and figure out the the play calling that works best for Goff, both now and when we have everyone back.
And obviously we have to get guys back in the secondary and figure out the defense!
Surgeon need nurses to hand him the tools.One espn host mentioned that goff is not good for long run in playoffs . If we have really good 5 offensive line mans maybe he can do it,that most QBs can do too

Those numbers are flawed and you can say the things you preach are fact all you want…it’s clear and obvious you see what you want to see…
Goff is bad under pressure, he refuses to throw into any coverage at all because he doesn’t want to hurt those statistics that you regularly preach about. It’s not like he’s had the best collective of offense weapons since 2023 or anything…
I also love when people say he doesn’t like throwing into coverage or throwing 50/50 balls. Uhh you think all QBs would much rather throw to wide open receivers? Of course but that’s not realistic. Jordan Love has no problem throwing these kind of balls to the likes of Wicks, Watson, Golden, etc…who can’t hold our best 4 offensive weapons jocks…
I’m good with Goff as this teams QB. You can win a SB with him. But it’s pretty obvious you better have an elite OLine or a really good one with elite weapons if you want him to have success. His drop off when under pressure is as drastic as any QB in the league. Find a way to keep him clean or you are gonna lose.
I’m not getting into a back and forth with you. You beat a dead horse with every response saying the same thing. You are closed off to your opinion and don’t listen to what anyone else has to say. Just throwing out my viewpoint on the matter to represent another Lion fan who sees the opposite as what you are seeing.
We are SB contenders with last years offensive line. Without a healthy Decker, retired Rags, and no Zietler, we are a potential non playoff team. This defense is better, healthier (granted not a whole lot more) and yet we are significantly worse overall. Goff needs a top 5 OLine. It couldn’t be more obvious

New England and Green Bay’s offense lines come in at 25th & 26th ranked in 2025. Philly’s comes in at 18th. All three of those QBs are winning games and putting up very nice offensive seasons. Packers and Patriots have a small fraction of the weapons we have here. So what’s the explanation for those teams/QBs having success despite playing behind below average offensive lines? Weird, the Lions line ranks 7th overall…could it be that facts should have a more than just one or two sources before they are being declared as absolute?

To add to those stats not exactly being representative.. we rarely use protections above 5-6. We almost always send as many eligibles as we can. It puts more pressure on your line. We also rarely chip. So part of it is scheme.. but that also means it’s up to our skill guys to get open quick and our QB to get it out quick. All of these things are not going as well as the previous couple years.

Absolutely true. And I think that’s the offensive designed based on what Goff prefers. He wants max options out there because he doesn’t want to throw into any kind of coverage if he doesn’t have to. If you go max protect with only a 2-3 man route scheme, chances are you aren’t going to find a player running completely free.
So you are kind of stuck in rock and a hard place. How do we fix this?

to you they are. stats have been kept for literally each and every sports team , since the creaation of these sports as we now see them today. it used to be men had to write and edit them on paper, until technology caught up NOW you can push a few buttons and it’s automatically done for you-thanks to those that kept records before anyone can find out what happened in any sport 65 years ago -if they needed- , because we have the stats of every game, every player, every score, any date and of any team-no matter what a given team was once known by….it’s all right there for you.
stats are kept by our government, our military branches, by fighters, by NASA, by Historians, by our health industry, so I don’t want to hear that Stats don’t matter, because they have throughout time. NOT just for football.
I think he means stats lie. They are misleading often. In order to see the entire picture and not be bias it’s important to take several sources and for a better overall viewpoint. But because information is so easy to find, people find what they want to find to support their side, and now it’s fact.
There are outlets that state detroits lions is top 10. Some that state they are bottom 15. Goffs has thrown for 3025yds 25tds and 5ints. Absolutely amazing right? In his 3 games against CHI, WAS, CIN, he threw for 900 yards 11tds and no ints. So in the other 8 games (3-5) he’s thrown for ~2100yds 14TDs and 5ints…pretty average numbers.
Point is, statistics tell a story. But is it the true story of the entire picture? There are many factors that should also be taken into account when coming to an actual, close to factual, viewpoint. And someone who does that is going to come closer to fact, than the one who only uses the source material that fits their narrative.

I can’t account for the % of stats in history that might have been tampered with, but
s a rule, most of the stats are accurate, I’m sure there are is a percentage that had been fooled with to keep us on some path certain people -want us to know or go by-right or wrong. The American people are only allowed to know that in which they worked, drove into their memory, or took the time to know -what our leaders want you to, IF there are things that are so exquisitly perfect and fine in this World, I don’t know what that is. I do know things used to be FAR better around the world, before we were lead away from our freedoms, rights, common sense, before we were poisoned as a country. ■■■■ ! even NFL football has changed drastically, not for the good.
Goffs numbers are still above average. We don’t have to imagine what he can when properly protected. He’s savage!
