How much time does Goff have to make decisions and throw behind our line this year?

I don’t see how anyone could watch any of these recent games and come away thinking the Oline is protecting well. What I’ve seen is constant pressure, inconsistent run game holes, guys getting beat and plays not given time to mature

This offense was built around a strong run game and effective play-action giving Goff the ability to dissect defenses and lead surgical drives

We’ve seen that a little bit. Like against Chicago and Baltimore. But when when we have a line that consists of a rookie and another who is basically rookie with an aging injured LT and injured RT centered by a mediocre Journeyman - we’re going to see a significant drop off. The fact that Goff is still top 5-10 behind a massive talent drop off is surprising

Running the ball more consistently would solve so much.

It’s almost impossible to upgrade from Goff.
We need to beef up the OL again.

look geek, I was just wondering how much time he has to:read the field, decide who he wants to target, read the defense, decide how he has to throw the ball to that player, and then actually throw the ball this is WHY I asked.

Dude, I have no idea why you’re talking to me.

I asked a simple question -it’s not about you, I’m frustrated about how some of our fans can sit here and talk shit about Goff, the whole team is having problems from the top down-yet dicussion turns to “how Goff can’t” NO he can’t when there are hiccups all over, nothing is fixed, set, figured out, or working properly…Goff does mess up, but usually that is because something else is flawed. right now the entire team is flawed including Jared. I’m like you guys-I’m trying to figure out

who and what the problem or how is it fixed. I wondered-how much time Goff lost behind our line, (I didn’t know) so I asked questions.

You said that, except for a small handful of elite QBs like Mahomes, paying $50 million for other QBs is a bad use of resources. Better to pay a rookie-scale QB - e.g., Hooker in the Lions case - because the performance difference between the two wasn’t nearly worth the contractual difference. Did you not say that?

Last year Jayden had a great ride. This year not so much

Last year Maye had a rough go, this year he looks unreal

Last year Caleb wasn’t great, this year slightly better but his rating is still around 88… Bears have scored and allowed almost the same amount of points, and yet they are 9-3?

Bo Nix had a good year last year, is having another really nice year this year… rating around 90

I would wager none of them win the SB this year. Based on math, it’s unlikely one of them wins the SB in 26’…. After next year all 4 will get a 270M plus contract.

The odds of having a QB on a rookie contract get to the SB within his first 3 years is super low…then comes the monster extension.

No that’s definitely close to what I said for sure. I also changed tune shortly before Goff signed his deal because he was playing so well that I said I wanted to keep him.

I would never suggest a 3rd round quarterback is who you turn a team over to. Also, as time has gone on non quarterbacks are now making a ridiculous amount of money making the massive QB contract not look so much like an outlier.

I am a Goff supporter whether you or anyone else wants to think otherwise. I don’t stick to my guns regardless of results. Goff changed my mind, as well as a few posters around here. I’ve also turned extremely positive in regards to all things Lions. It’s why I don’t come posting here regularly anymore. One because there just isn’t much to complain about. This team still has a bright 3-5 years ahead. And two, because this board can be extremely toxic. I got attacked for views I shared 2+ years ago because I used Goff as an example of why stats can be misleading (mistake on my part). It literally had nothing to do with Goff. Just example I thought everyone could understand. It was a dumb choice by me because when it comes to Goff/Stafford conversation it’s black and white and no in between.

Okay. I definitely remember your theory (we went back and forth on that) and I remember that you liked Hooker a lot coming out of the draft. So I guess in thinking back I thought you wanted Hooker on a rookie scale >> Goff at $50+ million. So I’m wrong about that, but it’s not an illogical conclusion.

I was a fan of the Hooker pick BECAUSE he was a 3rd round pick. Also, I absolutely loved our first 4 picks in that draft so I thought it was the perfect spot to take a flyer on a player I thought was really talented. Whiffff…which is not unusual for me
