I don’t believe 29 year old David Montgomery is going to be the same player as 28 year old David Montgomery especially behind the Texans offensive line.
Its football it’s a statistical likelihood he’s just worst than previous years.

That could be. And tbh what we need out of a compliment to Gibbs doesn’t have to be sexy. Gibbs is of that Barry archetype in which you are taking a bit off the top success rate to get it back and then some with explosives. What we really need out of his Robin is someone that gets downhill and keeps the chains moving. Pacheco was that style when healthy and Saylors runs that way as well. In the preseason at least.
I’m also of the belief he returns to the Chicago Bears Monty. It’s the player he’s always been…We’ve just been so loaded that everyone succeeds here.
Very true
Will he be Jamaal Williams 2.0
Or Joe Mixon 2.0 for Texans squeeze 1 good year out of him
That kangaroo looks suspiciously like a bird.
I honestly doubt he will be Williams 2.0. But monty brought a different ton then Gibbs. Dude is still in great shape.
Difficult to measure, because the O L was so much weaker
I worry that we will not have a downhill running attack. If Pacheco was 100% healthy I would not be as concerned. I think the O Line is capable but if Gibbs has to tote the rock 30 times a game I doubt he will make it through the season.
They would hand the ball off to Saint Brown before they gave Gibbs or any running back 30 carries a game
I remember a game back when Swift was here where he carried the ball over 30 times against the Steelers. Pretty rare in modern nfl
It’s not just the wear and tear. I also think the usage impacts his efficiency.
But Saylors might be better than I gave him credit for. I don’t know if he cut some weight or just became more comfortable with the speed of the game but he certainly looked more explosive than I remembered and he doesn’t get too cute with it.
Todd Gurley was completely out of the NFL by age 27. RBs age in dog years my friend, especially once you stack multiple injury riddled years in a row.
I’m rooting for Pacheco - big time. But at this point it’s blind faith to count on him returning to his old form.
What I think is weird is several websites have Small listed on our PS while others have him listed on our roster.
I mean does someone know something the rest of us don’t?

I feel that Pacheco is going to be the Davenport of the RB room and rarely be healthy enough to see the field
I hope that’s the case for me as well. I was not thrilled with him being the #3 let alone the likely early #2
Oh I’m aware, but Gurley is a unique case who entered the league with bone on bone. Everyone knew his career wouldn’t be a long one. And none of Pacheco’s injuries have been that bad long-term, no torn achilles or ACLs. Again I fully admit I could be wrong, but frankly I expected Pacheco to look like a shell of himself last year coming back from injury, just like I expect Judkins and Skattebo not to be at their peaks this year. So part of that is baked in.
One of the guys from the Athletic this spring cast major shade on the Pacheco signing saying he is completely washed up. He’s a KC fan and watched every game the past several years. Pretty knowledgeable dude and didn’t have an axe to grind. Was just offering unsweetened opinion. Gave me a big pause on buying in. We are still waiting to see any sign of life from him. Perhaps he will shock us all. BTW, I was a huge DMo fan. Even tho Gibbs is the present and future, Montgomery was a tone setter and pure poison off the bench for opposing defenses.
That Pachinko can make some cuts though, can see why Brad liked him.

I never wish ill, on anyone.
I don’t think he’s all the way back from last year.
Find a way to part as friends. Get Ironsides back in the building by morning.
Our Oline run blocks, if nothing else. We’re going to run the ball!
