I have a topic, who should we replace Anzalone with?

I think there’s a chance Perkins is a UDFA honestly. Probably not, but I think that’s more likely than him going on day 2. He really hasn’t looked like himself since the injury.

Trade-up for Sonny Styles? Josiah Trotter in round 3?

I don’t know enough about the collegiate LBers. One of the FA Devons would have been great.

Since Brad already traded away our 3rd round pick Trotter is unlikely and we do not have the draft capital to go up and get Styles. I hope the plan is to stop using 3 LBs all the time and I don’t think we need to address LB until late day 3 for a special teams guy. We just added Damone Clark as a FA.

Guy is so overrated, he might end up being the next, “best that never was” Boobie Miles

I’m of the same belief. Unless we go Styles or Kyle Louis I don’t really see that much better of a WILL option than Clark honestly. Not for the opportunity cost of losing out on whoever we pass on.

The lions are paying Derrick Barnes 8 million a year, so maybe they have plans to get him more snaps elsewhere on the field. Certainly how they used him last year didn’t work.

If the cap is so tight I’m not sure why they kept Barnes. I mean would you rather have AA at 7 mil or Barnes at 8 mil?

Either way I really hope the lions don’t burn their 1st or 2nd pick on a LB.

Any FAs out there we think could compete with Rodrigo? Clearly a guy who would be at or near league minimum of course

Anthony Hill Jr. would be awesome, dude is definitely a savage. He might be there at our second round pick. Not sure I want to draft a LB over an OT or DE there, but he might end up the best on the board at the time.

Barnes at $9.7MM this year per spotrac is such an overpay. We need a big year out of him this year badly.

:face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting: Is this the worst contract of the Brad Holmes era so far?

It doesn’t look great thus far but I think Shep really wanted him and so did AG, and that drove the price up. But yeah, he needs to earn it this year. He had a spell before he got hurt where he played really well, we need more of that.

The lions chose to keep Barnes over AA, and pay him more than AA, so they really should be expecting a highly productive season from him. I hope they’re right.

Yes.

Yeah, I think he would be so good as a 2nd LB with Campbell. It might be in play if the Lions go OT first and then decide he is a better player than what they can get at DE. I’m not sure he’ll be there tbh. He might go in the first, but off ball LBs do fall. There is a couple of things I like specifically about him too. He creates turnovers and I think that’d be real nice to have. And also, the ability to EDGE rush is underrated with him. The coverage isn’t there totally but that is a pretty common issue with LBs coming into the league and I think he is athletic enough to survive until he gets there.

Rodrigo is going to get an opportunity. And he should.

The guy I am bullish about is D. Clark. 6’3”, 240ish pounds and our coach knows him. 5th round pick. Never really got a shot.

I can see a Zack Baun situation here with the Eagles. Another Saints LBer who had success outside the team that drafted them. I would like a talented rookie too.

Rodrigo, Clark and a rookie works for me.

Is this true?

Snap counts

Perkins 707

Louis 668

Hill 563

Trother 516

He played more snaps in 2025 than everyone’s favorite LBs in the draft.

Sooo is what you are saying even true ?

LSU had planned to use Perkins in the star position. Kind of a hybrid LB position that would keep him on the field for passing downs. I don’t know what happened but at the end of the year he was being replaced on passing downs. I just watched LSU and Arkansas in which Perkins had a sack, an INT, and a big TFL but he was still being replaced on passing downs. I don’t know why because in that game he was certainly one of their better players on defense. C

Everything I saw he was on the field in that hybrid role. Split evenly between

Rushing the passer , QB spy, and coverage.

I mentioned earlier loving him in a 3-3-5 package.

If we had Branch back at NB and ran 4-2-5

Then on passing downs take out Tyleeik for Harold Perkins.

Hutch, McNeil, Edge

Branch, Perkins, Jack, Barnes

I like that nickel group a lot

Shouldn’t you be down on Perkins? He’s given us three years of middling tape at this point. You’re not making excuses for him, are you?

Must be bad luck

I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on Perkins if we are talking 6th round. Let him play special teams for a year and see if he regains any of the twitch and suddenness he showed before the injury.
