I know Many Like Kancey I don't But Have a WHY Question

You mean like AJ Parker the year before?

Just because he won a spot where we were weak at doesn’t make him special.

I like Benito as a role player , but the goal is always to upgrade the roster and he’s at the bottom

It’s because Kancey has better tape. As a pass rushing DT he is electrifying. He didn’t test with the freak numbers AA did, but his combine was still jaw dropping. He’s still very fast, and quick. At this point in time Kancey looks like a much better player. So that’s why he’s more popular. We all know the knocks. He’s undersized. Weight, and length.

Adetomiwa Adebawore is a freak. And yes he’s a DT/DE. I think primarily DT is the goal for any team that drafts him so I consider him that. He’s got the height, length, better body, and he has the type of body that can be filled out. Gaining 10lbs for him shouldn’t be difficult. Then he would be 290+lbs which is good DT weight. Not just as a 3-tech. He has a very high ceiling. He’s more of a project guy. He’s the AR of DT’s.

Plenty of people talk about him. Especially here. I’m always mocking him, and mentioning him as a guy I hope they draft. It’s been reported here that the Lions have met with him twice. I also think there’s a very good chance he goes in round 1, and before Kancy.

And bc this draft class sucks at the top so the draft media is squinting and trying to see a few extra blue chippers.

Coburn doesn’t anchor in the run game anywhere near as consistently as he should. Stylistically he’s an up the field DT in a NT’s body. He can be fairly dynamic as a bull rusher though. He’d be interesting in a rotation.

Production counts for something right? Kancey has produced more sacks, qb hurries, qb hits, and tfl’s. He also sheds blocks much faster and has a larger arsenal of moves.

I know some people don’t like pff but Holmes has had maybe the highest graded pff drafts over the past two years.

Kancey had a pff over 90, Adebawore had a pff of 75. The only player who had a lower pff then Adebawore who Holmes drafted last year was 7th rounder Chase Lucas.

I’m not saying Kancey would be the better pick, I’m just giving reasons why some people would like him more.

He had two more sacks last season an they could have been against a girls school in some conferences LOL Its not production alone ist quality of teams you play. Even with teams you play they may not even have a OLman worth looking at. Unless you have the film an roster an minutes played an watch every snap only then does the stats count. We just don’t know we do know that all the u tubes are never bad plays.

I take the rating with a grain of salt. They are not unbias an its not hard to prove. They at time4s make stuff up when questioned to show there numbers are correct. They like certain players an grade them up its a known fact. Now teams use there to compare to there own, most teams have there own grading system for all teams they grade them each week.

I really don’t think there is any question that Kancey has been and is a better football player than AA, When evaluating players for the draft you have to project what they can do in the NFL. For our defense I would not draft either one in the first round.

Honestly, I see no reason why these guys can’t be great. That’s why they’ll probably both go late 1st, or early 2nd. The Aaron Donald comparison for Kancey is legit. Not “greatest defensive player of all time” legit, but as a very good undersized DT. I see Kancey getting 10 sacks in a season, if he’s play like James Houston. To their strengths, and putting them in the right situation.

Can Kancey be a good run stopper, and overall great DT? I don’t know, but he has the potential. People act like college players stay the same. With the right coaches, good development, and work ethic he can absolutely become a beast.

Both these guys can gain weight. I eat a few italian sausages and i’m already up 10lbs. Both guys are worth it. Kancey being more ready, and AA having better potential. Both guys are exactly what these team needs. They need rushers from the inside.

I already blow this board up with my love for DT’s. I want Bresee (all around good DT), and Kancy, or AA. Or Mazi, and one of the two. Or Siaki Ika, and one of the two. Assuming Carter is out. Point is, I want either the prototypical DT(Carter, Bresee), or big DT(Mazi, Siaki Ika) and a 3-tech DT(Kancey, AA).

Double down burgers.

I would take Keeanu Benton over any of those guys. If I was going to take a player to beef up a little and make them a DT I would start with Lucas Van Ness or Keion White. I think these guys are better football players and they play with attitude I believe the Lions would like. They are both 6’5 and have the body to carry more weight.

When Kancey busts and is at best a 3rd down pass rush specialist i hope the crow tastes good.

He has a bottom barrel floor

That’s not a bust then. If he’s the James Houston of DT that’s what we want LOL

If he is taken in the 1st or 2nd round AND isnt an every down player then he is a bust

ED Oliver has been a massive disappointment… Kancey will never be as good as him

If kancey cut his bad weight he would be closer to 265 lbs

If he posted those elite #s with his bad weight I can’t wait to see what he would do after a year in our program. Training , dieting, maybe a cycle or two lol

Unless his tiny frame is already completely maxed out so bad weight was the only way to get to the magic minumum 280 mark… he sure doesnt look like he has the frame to carry more weight.

Another thing that gets overlooked with Kancey is how often he was doubled teamed. I believe he had the highest win percentage against single blocks in the nation.

Here in Detroit I doubt he would face many double teams with Hutch and Houston.

I can’t believe how many people would just write him off just because his arms are 2 inches shorter than preferred. It sounds similar to people not wanting Hutch last year.

They are not just shorter than preferred. They are shorter than ANY SINGLE DL THAT HAS EVER HAD ANY SUCCESS AT ALL IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL. No one with arms that short has ever made in the league. Batting zero. Nada. Zilch.
