Welcome back!!
So the way I’ve been looking at it is: since when have the Lions EVER cared about whose played opposite Hutch? What they look for in that end seems easier to find or something. They aren’t looking for a 10 sack guy, although of course that would be nice. I’ve seen them try with Paschal, sign an injury prone Davenport. Commish. They just don’t seem overly concerned there. Maybe that will change after this last year of not getting pressure. So I do see them going OT. They definitely value that postiion. But were talking Brad Holmes so who knows.
Will Barnes get 12 sacks again this year? oh wait….
heyyy! Good to have you back!
no bro. 15.
Safe to say the Lions had higher hopes for both Barnes (12 sack potential) and Paschal (10 sack potential) then what happened. Barnes was a disappointment last year.
I had to ask. Welcome back
LOL your good brother. I swung and missed on both of them. Probably missing on Manu…..Glad to see you as well.
You did it in reverse order. The welcome back usually comes before the I told you so. ![]()
Not in these parts!
Finish the OL with a tackle we need in round 1 of the draft. There will be options there. ESP. if we trade back.
But first, add free agent DE AND DT. Then, draft our future OR starter opposite Sewell. Then get to work in the draft making this DL deeper and more talented.
We maybe able to move back many think the ROT I like is RD2 I think he is best ROT left at 17 an will be stud for years with Sewell at LOT an Max Iheanachor at ROT for years. He is good now with pro coaching an he will be a stud by September an still will get better. Swell either Frazer or Mahogany/LOG/Mays C/ Ratledge ROG / Max ROT Thats 6 OLine all young all good an new ones getting better With very good depth. I don’t care where Max is ranked he will be likely best OT of this draft by end of the year. We can look to the D for rest of draft unless a pure gift falls to us.
I think it is a perfect situation for Max. Borom can start the year at RT if Max is not ready right away. My ideal draft at this point would be to trade down and get Max then trade up with our 2nd to draft Caleb Banks to play DE. Banks has some risk but his upside is in the neighborhood of Chris Jones. I just don’t see us drafting high enough any time soon to acquire a DE with that kind of talent.
What about Clemson’s Miller
He looks like a plug n play Day 1 guy at RT

Maybe because Jansen and Branden Throne… and ANYONE that evaluates Lions tape… realizes that the Lions don’t actually ask the center to “pull” on a regular basis… or often at all.
Mays does perfectly fine climbing to the 2nd level and hitting LBs.
It’s hilarious to me that several former NFL offensive lineman (who actually make anliving analyzing players now) have been bullish on Cade Mays’ fit with the Lions, but some denizens think they know better. ![]()

This guy was brought here for a reason. I beleieve that staff thinks he’s very capable as a starting T for us and let a young guy sit and learn.
Nice to see you QB
I agree. Trade down. Grab Max and add a ton of speed and some DL help and I’m satisfied with the offseason.
I would be ecstatic if we could leave day 1 with:
Max, Derrick Lawrence/Moore/Zion Young/DDS/Jacas, Louis
We’d still have ample day 3 capital to build out cheap, young back of the roster depth.
I like the young depth they have brought mixed with some guys in their prime. No more old dogs so this mix should be good for a few years assuming minimal injuries.
Need to find a top half Tackle in that group to compliment Sewell and we are in great shape with the Oline.
This team needs someone to build this defense as it has been at best marginal since MCDC got here. Lots of great pieces but need the DC to mix it up properly
I think we need to add a long, pesky press man corner early day 3. I think supply will match up with need there.
I think it’s similarly plentiful at move TE (Ys are in short supply), safeties of most varieties. and a group of NTs (Cleveland, Keenan, Corleone, etc). With those spots the depth likely pushes deeper into Day 3.
3T is tough. I think Proctor and Halton go in the first half of day 2 on account of the dearth of disruptive 3Ts. Landon Robinson may be a fit if he lasts into round 5.
I guess this is my long winded way of saying I hope Brad is judicious with his trades up. Relative preservation of day 3 capital is wise given our apparent cap constraints..
Great take on the day 3 talent and need to keep the cost structure in place
I will start beating my drum later in off season about the defense and the leadership. It is painfully obvious that MCDC is an offensive HC who knows offense and knows exactly what he wants and how he wants it executed. Conversely he may have an idea on what kind of defense he wants be the details and how it should be structured and executed is clearly not something he has a handle on or this teams defense would rise in a similar fashion as the offense.
The defense has elite talent at all 3 levels yet plays at a bottom half to league level. It is about the DC and execution and play calling. So yes BH will bring in talent. The question is if Shep can put it together.
