This is a pretty arbitrary collection of stats, but I thought it was interesting:
So I did a little research… it’s the third long-term injury on the same foot. That doesn’t make you nervous? On a 330 pound dude it makes me really nervous.
Zane Durant is an interesting rebound bet that I forget about. Probably bc of how invisible he was this year. The prior version was interesting and the environment was probably the second worst amongst blue bloods after Clemson. Late bet of course.
Right, coming into the year he was really the only 3T I was interested in (depending on what you thought of Woods), but that’s because the rest were hiding out at tiny schools… or whatever what going on with Halten. Durant’s definitely worth a shot late
If they could land Caleb Lomu they’d be set for years.
IIRC he’s a pristine character guy as well.
Hey I wondered when we’d see our first big Lomu fan. The people who like him love him. I see the ceiling, for sure. Actually I think @Blizer might be a pretty big fan too
That’s the dude at OT in your opinion.
Seems like such a good draft for OT fortunately for us
Lomu im pretty high on for sure
I think he fits us incredibly well, but I also acknowledge that he needs prolly a year in the oven to manage his strength and getting in playing weight
Based on his talent I am willing to take a risk. The most recent injury he didn’t even know he had until it was discovered by doctors at the combine. Even with the injury at a svelte 327 lbs he ran a 5.06 with a 1.76 10 yard split and a 32” vert. I’m sure it is not a popular opinion to risk drafting a player with injury history in here. I have not seen any medical reports other than he will be 100% by June. If the medicals say he will have a full recovery I have no problem taking him at 50. I am no doctor and I haven’t stayed at a Holiday Inn recently so I will leave that to the team physicians. What I see is a massive wrecking ball with a high motor tremendous upside.
I generally try not to project injury issues, I find most of them are simply the result of small sample sizes and “injury-proneness” isn’t really a thing.
However there are exceptions. Concussions. Really awful injuries that normally have a long-term affect like Carson Strong’s… and foot injuries for big people. Especially on the same foot.
That said if you’re talking 50 and not 17, that’s a conversation I’d be willing to have. He was a top ten guy for me as well back in January, I see the upside don’t get me wrong. But he can have all the upside in the world but if he can’t stay on the field ![]()
If he can’t stay on the field, that’s a big NO. Not just a red flag, but a “do not draft” flag. We’ve seen what happened with Levi, Paschal, Rakestraw (and not to mention Davenport or Moseley on the free-agency side of things). It’s time to realize there’s no value to be had from such picks, however enticing.
I dont recall alot of running behind the center plays but maybe that is just me.
It’s easy to nit pick when we havent even seen him in a Lions Uni.
Mays could be a monster or a mouse. FA is a gamble.
And we have had that problem a lot recently
Iffy
Paschal
Levi
Rakestraw
Etc, etc, etc. @jane_doe beat me to it above.
I think you left out Jamo. How has that worked out?
That was just a torn ACL though, different story. We already know guys come back to full health from that one, it’s pretty much the best injury for a guy to be coming back from. I wouldn’t have any problem drafting McCoy for that reason, his 2024 tape is some of the best CB tape I’ve ever watched. If only his process wasn’t so awful, and so “not us.”
It’s worth remembering that even with below par OL play last season, the offense was still number 4 in scoring and Goff had a great season.
The O-line doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be better, and it should be fairly easy to upgrade on 2025 Decker and 2025 Glasgow.
I agree but we gotta be better run blocking. Gibbs had a couple monster games that really padded his overall stats. In 4 games against the Vikings and Packers we could not run the ball at all. And to no surprise lost all 4 games. The running game has really been the key to our success in 2023 and 2024.
The last 6 games of the year Gibbs averaged 3 yards per carry and was getting dropped in the back field a lot. Gotta fix that.
I will take trade down for Max thats no brainer .I am saying if no trade down an just based on talent with Pene at lOT Max will give Lions best OT pair for many years. Heis good now an with pro training he will be one of best ROTs very soon I would like a pick in RD 3 if possible but we can get a DE in rd two I am concerned about Banks injury history on foot. I think DE like Lawrence is worth close look an couple others rd 2 same range. We don’t need another Hutch we need a DE good enough to make other teams back off from Hutch because are other rusher will make them pay.
I like Lawrence also but I think he will be gone before we pick at 50.
