Figured I’d give the guy his own thread.
Good for him.
We’ve heard he’s not a culture fit in Detroit. Wasn’t coming back at any price, apparently.
At that price it is clear the Lions were frustrated with him.
Safety depth is a concern but I bet Holmes has a better plan for less $ in mind already.
I soured on Iffy early here. But he had talent. Can’t help the club from the tub.
He has talent if he can stay healthy, hopefully he finds success in Miami.
Miami and a guy who can’t stop getting hurt?
Weird.
He and their QB can be buttbuddies on IR
I would have loved to have him back at that price, but he will have more opportunity in Miami and this probably makes more sense for him.
At that price it’s clear Detroit just didn’t want him back. Time to find a 3rd safety in FA. No rush tho
Well the no rush part is happing
That’s probably right around the level necessary to factor into the compensatory pick formula for the 2026 draft.
Nick Korte’s projected cutoff for 2025 compensatory picks was a bare minimum $3 Million per year contract.
The first Stafford trade piece is gone. I think this is also the first Brad pick that was picked up by another team in free agency. Levi may be next.
Inevitable. I thought the injury history was just alot of bad luck…until this past year. I’m over him, but do wish him luck.
I remember when we first moved him to S, he did not like it. I also remember him having some good reps at CB. Wonder if the Dolphins are locked into him at S.
Best of everything, Iffy.
Enjoy the money.
Iffy is not a culture fit because it appears that he doesn’t “Love” football and have an enormous will to get better.
Players like that are frustrating to coach.
they have all the physical tools and talent but not the will to work to get the most out of it.
I get this view from the continued “owwies” that Iffy wouldn’t play through.
Most of us were frustrated with his early career injuries but thought he turned the corner with his great play at the end of 2023.
Then he has an ankle injury in camp that lingers for the first 11 weeks of the season.
Then when he is due to come off IR he injures a “finger” and has to go back on IR.
The Lions are in a playoff race and have injuries all around.
Guys that “Love” football would wrap that hand up in a club and go play football.
Maybe he wouldn’t have been very effective playing with a cast or club. CD3 was pretty effective.
Iffy didn’t pursue the idea or try.
Some guys in a contract year don’t want to risk further injury or gut out difficult situations.
Jonah Jackson didn’t try to play through injury in the 2023 season playoffs.
Some just don’t have the “Grit” to play for Dan & Brad.
I hope Iffy stays hydrated and brings his sunscreen because he is destined to miss plenty of time with cramps and sunburn in Miami.
I think the Lions were hoping to get Iffy back on the $2.5M 4yr vet minimum contract . . . got priced out of it. Good for Iffy.
I don’t think so. I think the Lions were bigtime soured on Iffy at the end. They do not want to have to beg someone to play football, and basically they had to do that twice with Iffy this year. Him costing us an extra IR return spot also was problematic, although getting elimintated early it turned out it didn’t matter.
I really like what Iffy did for us in 2023. He was a big reason our defense turned around and won us 2 playoff games. To me, Iffy seems like one of those guys where everything has to be “perfect” before he will play, and if there is any sort of discomfort, he is sitting out. We also heard he was upset the Lions moved him from CB to Safety, and then upset again when Branch was moved back to Safety and essentially took his spot. I still have a sneaking suspicion this is why Iffy’s ankle injury took so long to heal from. Basically, Dan Campbell made a comment about “look, we need Iffy to get back and help us” and magically, Iffy returned to the lineup. I think the ankle may have been hurt at one time, but it was more Iffy’s ego that was bruised that was the real problem. The thing that was hurt, was really his feelings.
Good luck in Miami Iffy. I want to replace his role, but we can find a replacement player in the draft who actually wants to play football and will be younger and cheaper.

I don’t get the logic that he wanted to sit out a lot in a contract year, if he’d put up similar kind of tape as at the tail end of 2023 he’d be getting a hell of a lot more than $4 million.
He didn’t wanna sit out! You’re just hearing from angry fans that have no source and like to just throw stuff out there!
It could be a case of this. Which of these two guys would you look to bring in as a free agent for your team?
Player A - “I didn’t play much last year because I had two injuries back to back that kept me off of the field. However, if you look back to my 2023 season, that’s the guy you are getting this year.”
Player B - “I didn’t play as much last year because I lost my job to another player that was moved to my spot.”
