In which week Johnny Morton will be fired?

Now defenses have a blueprint of what to do against lions offense. I know dan is loyal , but I have seen head coaches fire offensive coordinators, we have like three to four tough games ahead in 4 weeks, I can see it happen after 4 weeks .

the young guy sitting right to Johnny can do the job? He should be good at least if’ he not his nephew

Won’t happen… Not during the season, bank on it, that’s not how Dan operates

Ya, after the season

The best case scenario for it to happen would be after the season if the Bengals fire Zac Taylor. I’m pretty sure if available Taylor would be Dan’s first choice for OC.

Taylor was Goff’s QB coach in 2018 and was Dan’s OC in Miami during his interim stint.

It won’t happen but I’d like Dan to take over play calling and just get rid of this clown. Yeah, I know our OL is beat up and not at last year’s level, but it IS on the OC to scheme things up to maximize what you do have. That is why he gets paid the $$$ he does. I’m not expecting a repeat of last year’s offense, but we have enough talent to function above what we showed today.

I’ve never had a good feeling about this guy - he just doesn’t bring much to the table in my opinion.

Clown? Seems a bit much.

Yes, clown is a bit over the top. With that said, I still don’t think he brings much to the table for the Lions. Last year’s offense seemed like it emphasized flexibility, motion, and matchup exploitations. While I’m certain Morton has retained the core scheme (thanks to Campbell), he appears to lack the game-flow intuition that Johnson had. David Montgomery admitted that Johnson was more ‘controlled’ and straightforward in his approach, while Morton is more intense and passionate in his delivery (more demonstrative).

I can’t put my finger on it, but something appears off with him. Put another way, if it’s Campbell’s offense at its core, and this guy lacks in-game flow adjustments/creativity, what exactly is he bringing to the table? I’m not putting all of the OL issues on him, but he certainly plays a part in maximizing what is available to him. OL issues aside, I’ve seen enough to say he isn’t it at OC. But it doesn’t matter because I’m not DC, so it is what it is.

If msu has kept their clown, hes not going anywhere. Lions should’ve got a comp pick from Ben and Aaron

I’m giving him more time. At this point Brian Flores is better at his job than Morton is at his.

bro, no.

it was that SD guy and it was mid-season

Bro… No… Anthony Lynn was not fired until after the season, January 10th… He had play calling duties removed, but he wasn’t fired until after the season. You have technology at your disposal, a quick Google search would reveal all

What’s the other option? Install Fraley as OC? The running game (he’s the running game coordinator) or OL blocking hasn’t been lights out this season either. He’s getting interviews for OC jobs, he’s the next logical choice :man_shrugging:

He is talking about Pleasant
He was fired after our 1-6 start

Neither Fraley or Choice will be fired mid season like Pleasant was.

I could definitely get behind that move.

I’m fine with him helping ‘game plan’ in the official OC capacity like any of the HCs that call offensive plays (Doyle in Chicago, whoever in LA under McVay, etc.). I’d like to see Dan take over play calling as I think he has a much better game day feel than Morton. I could be way off base too.

No he’s not, he said the OC was fired for Ben to take over… Unless he’s completely confused about which side of the ball he’s on

When I say fired, I want him removed from play calling. With his well-known little sleep work ethic/film review marathons, let him work that side of things and let Dan do the game day play calling. He won’t like it because he came here to call plays, but that’s my proposal.
